Peace volunteer team for people with disabilities showcases products at Raqqa festival
Raqqa, Sept. 13 (SANA)The “Peace” volunteer team for people with physical disabilities participated for the first time in the “Raqqa Through Our Eyes”shopping festival, displaying products made by its members in a step aimed at supporting their integration into the labor market and strengthening their community participation.
Team founder Khaled al-Hindawi said the participation was the team’s first at the festival, adding that honey produced by one of its members was among the products displayed. He noted the positive response from visitors toward the participation and products.
Team member Ahmad al-Sabbagha said he presented perfumes that he produces and sells, along with other products, adding that the event provided an opportunity to communicate with visitors and engage in the labor market.
He stressed the ability of people with disabilities to work, produce and contribute to society, calling for greater focus on their skills and capabilities.
Mahmoud Sheikh al-Souq, from the management of the “Raqqa Through Our Eyes” festival, said the event aims to stimulate economic, tourism and social activity.
He said organizers support the participation of people with disabilities and plan to allocate a more effective section for them in future festivals to strengthen their presence in economic activities.
Raqqa Sports and Youth Directorate Director Khaled al-Farra said the festival included a dedicated kiosk for people with disabilities to display their products, adding that efforts are underway to increase the number of kiosks allocated to them at future events.
Established inRaqqain 2023, the Peace volunteer team includes people withphysical disabilitiesand works to support their community participation, highlight their abilities and skills, and provide opportunities for them to enter the labor market and showcase their products.
The “Raqqa Through Our Eyes” festival continues in Raqqa until Sept. 18, aiming to stimulate economic activity, support local products and promote community participation.
