Happy to join the Singapore Kadayanallur Muslim League (SKML) as it marks 85 years of service, solidarity and community spirit. The roots of SKML go back to the late 19th century when Tamil Muslim immigrants from Kadayanallur arrived in Singapore seeking a better life. Here, they organised themselves to provide mutual support. Over time, they grew into Singapore’s largest Indian Muslim organisation - serving the community, while also reaching beyond it to contribute to our wider society. In many ways, this reflects the Singapore story too. We look after our own, but “our own” extends beyond family, language or faith. It embraces Singaporeans of every race, language & religion. The good seeds planted by earlier generations have yielded a rich harvest in Singapore. Now it is our turn to plant the seeds for the future — to keep reaching out, strengthening trust, and building Singapore together.
