Capitals, Sept. 12 (SANA)Qatar, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jordan and Iraq condemned an attack that targeted Saudi Arabia’s East-West oil pipeline with drones launched from Iraqi territory, which caused injuries and material damage.

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the Kingdom strongly condemned the attack on the pipeline in the Riyadh and Madinah regions, stressing that it resulted in casualties and material damage that is being addressed.

The ministry said that following a request from Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zeidi to allow the Iraqi government to take measures to prevent attacks launched from its territory against Saudi Arabia and neighboring countries, the Kingdom decided not to respond to the attacks, at this stage, and to support Iraq’s efforts.

Saudi Arabia affirmed that it reserves the right to take all measures necessary to protect its sovereignty, security, facilities, citizens and residents.

Earlier, the Saudi Ministry of Energy announced the precautionary suspension of operations on the East-West pipeline in the Riyadh and Madinah regions after it was targeted by several drones, causing injuries.

in this context,Qatarcondemned the attack in the strongest terms, saying the targeting of civilian and economic facilities constitutes a violation of international law and a dangerous escalation that threatens regional security and stability.

In a statement posted on X, the Qatari Foreign Ministry expressed Doha’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for all measures taken to protect its sovereignty, security and facilities.

TheGCCalso rejected all acts targeting Saudi Arabia’s security, stability and national capabilities.

GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi called on the Iraqi government to intensify efforts and take firm measures to prevent the use of its territory as a launch-pad for such attacks, stressing the need to prevent their recurrence and avoid further escalation in the region.

Jordanalso condemned the attack, describing it as a blatant violation of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty, a threat to its security and stability, and a breach of international law and the UN Charter.

The Jordanian Foreign Ministry reaffirmed Amman’s full solidarity with Riyadh and its support for measures aimed at protecting Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty, security, assets and the safety of citizens and residents.

Meanwhile, the Iraqi government condemned the attacks and rejected any aggression that harms Saudi Arabia’s security and stability or affects the longstanding fraternal relations between the two countries.

Iraqigovernment spokesperson Sabah al-Numan said Prime Minister Ali al-Zeidi ordered an urgent investigation into the circumstances of the attacks and the parties behind them, stressing that legal action would be taken against anyone proven to be involved.

Al-Numan affirmed that Iraqi territory and airspace would not be used as a launchpad for attacks against any country, adding that Iraq’s policy is based on respecting state sovereignty and promoting regional cooperation and stability.
