Secretary’s Notes: Secretary Maria Cristina Aldeguer-Roque — Department of Trade and Industry

um the working visit of the president here in India today we were able to meet um important companies that have already um actually they are already in the Philippines and they have expressed expansion plans. Um they are very positive about the economic policy of the president therefore um they want they express their desire to expand in the Philippines. So for Ison group no Ison is a conglomerate. already are existing in the Philippines. So ang main na pinag-usapan dito ay ang tatlong areas kung saan sila mag-e-expand. Number one is in the agritechnology. meaning they want to improve the technology once it comes to the agriculture sector. So importante sa atin ang agriculture sector kasi food security ang main talagang priority din ng ating pangulo. So any advancement in agriculture technology importante po sa ating bansa and definitely sa ating pangulo. Number two is the um healthc. Ang pino-propose nila ay ang teleconsult. So importante din po sa atin ang teleconsult dahil in some areas that are far flung in the country no'no kasi 7,600 islands tayo um kung minsan nagkakasakit tayo and wala tayong mapuntahang doctor because it's still in the nearby or in the far town. So at least meron tayong mga mga maano na mga doctor no. These doctors are from all over um worldwide doctors. So meron silang mga doctors that are on board. So madali na lang po ang magpakonsulta through online. So this is very helpful for us. Actually mababa lang ang fees no? They were proposing a fee of like Php65 a month for teleconsult and you can consult every time and all the time. So maganda rin yung proposal nila isang company that will improve the digital payments or the payment gateway. 'Yun nag-propose rin sila uh kay presidente and if uh matutuloy ito, this is actually very good. So na maganda rin ang feedback nito for sure and magagamit not just by our OFWs or by our the different businesses but actually by everyone in the entire country lalo na the small and medium enterprises. Malaki rin po ang matutulong sa kanila itong payment gateway na ito. And then another company is the GMR which is the Sangle airport. Again, we need to really push uh to get the airport projects going kasi marami na pong we're expecting a lot of planes that are that will be landing in the Philippines. So we are hoping to really push our tourism also and then trade. So importante that we pursue projects lalo na for new airports and new improved airports para talagang mas maraming makakapunta sa Pilipinas. Yes, for the round table discussion they were with four companies no Cognisant, we had VVDN we had Hinduha, HCLTech. Again there are they have presence in the Philippines and they also told the president that first they're very happy with the economic policies of the of his administration. So tuloy-tuloy lang po ang expansion nila especially in the digitalization and in the AI also telecommunication meron din. So again expansion plants which is very important because they are already existing in the Philippines. So they already know exactly how everything goes and yung naging ah negosyo nila sa Philippines or naging business sila sa Philippines, they're very happy with it. In fact, they've said that the Philippines is really the best destination for for trade and for for business for them. Therefore, theyve really um expressed the expansion plans to the president especially in the tech, especially the digitalization and especially in the AI. So don talaga naka-focus itong uh mga companies don sa round table na meeting natin. Lee we will assist all the companies here that want to invest in the Philippines. As I always say, we take a whole government approach to make sure that we get things done. Meaning lahat ng cabinet secretaries nagtutulong-tulong. As you've seen in in the meeting, we had different cabinet secretaries. Nandito si Sec Go, si Sec Henry, si Sec John Vick nandito din. So we all work together to make sure that we get things done. We follow what the direction of the president and ang gusto ni presidente ay talagang ma ma-address ang lahat ng issues and lahat ng mga concerns nitong mga companies. And they have been very happy with the incentive scheme of the the of create more act and the of course yung SPP 2026 meaning more incentives and better incentives for all the companies not just in India but all over the world that want to invest in the Philippines. So tuloy-tuloy lang po ang pag-push natin ng investment sa Pilipinas. Yeah. Um, for investments and trade in general, we will still continue to really push for uh you know bigger investments and lalo expansion because a lot of the companies that have investments here in the Philippines are actually very happy. So we are iniisa-isa namin sila para anong magiging expansion plans nila dito sa Pilipinas. And so far, we've been quite um how should I say, it's quite positive about this whole wherever we go, tuloy-tuloy ang pag expand ng mga negosyante dito sa Philippines. But for us, we're pushing also exports kasi dito nakikita talaga iyung growth. 2025 all time high meaning from the beginning of time 15.4% 4% ang increase. Tapos for 2026, January up, February up, March up by 20.4%, April up, May up, June up by 24.1% and also July up. So ang momentum talaga ng export industry natin ay pataas. So a lot of the companies that are in the export industries have already signified or have already started to expand in the Philippines. And um we've also seen expansion in well those that have really gun up sa semiconductor, minerals, automotive parts. But we've seen a lot of growth in the agriculture sector. So malaking bagay po ito para sa ating mga farmers. Um, of course the superstar is still coconut. We've increased by 34.4%. Pineapple and banana still uh going up, but we've seen rising stars in Ube and Kalamansi and we still continue to look for rising stars in the agriculture sector. We we continues to provide free market access no or free pwede silang sumali sa trade show ng Department of Trade and Industry for free whether locally or globally. kasi products remain as products unless we start to sell them or put them out there. So we really need to find um ways for us to really get the products out there and then the Marcos administration will go down in history as the administration with the most free trade agreement. So this year we have four more very strong countries that we will conclude or hope to conclude the free trade agreement which is first the Philippine EUFTA which will open the European market. Malaki po ang market na ito. Next is the Philippine Canada FTA which we hope to conclude in November. Also the Philippine EU FTA and then third we have the Japepa which will open the the Japanese market especially for bananas. And then next we are actually uh concluded already the Philippine Chile FTA so we will be signing it this October. This Philippine Chile FTA will open the South America market. a huge South America market of 300 million population. So again, we exps to grow up to go up even further. So again, um malaki pong tulong ito not just for the businesses but also for the community. So malaking um napakaimportante itong mga new updates ah ng Marcos Administration. Once the exports are up then jobs will be up. We need to provide jobs dito pa sa Philippines. So our our countrymen or at ang mga Pilipino ay hindi na mag-ibang bansa para maghanap ng trabaho. Ang gusto ni presidente they will be here ah they will be in the Philippines with uh with family. So yun if investments are up which actually they're up last year up sila and then this year for PESA um we were up by 94.4% and for BOI up to June we were up by 20 24%. So again malaking improvement din ito for us no in spite and despite of the Middle East crisis. So tuloy-tuloy pa rin po siyang importante that kung ano yung utos sa amin ng presidente yun ang dapat namin sundin. So again tuloy-tuloy just keep on um inviting investors to come in and to really push for export. So but not just for we also provide market access for the small and medium enterprises in the Philippines. Um we have grown also in terms of sales in our uh trade shows. Last year we were 600 million for the whole year. this year up to June we're already Php1 billion. So again, sa lahat ng gustong sumali sa trade shows ng DTI, whether global or local, libra po ito. Just go to the DTI office or regional offices nationwide. So again, um the Marcos administration uh will really promote exports and trade and investment. So doon talaga kami nakatutok. sa ating mga kababayan, let's continue to work closely with the Marcos administration, with the government because if you exhaust the full potential na naibibigay ng Marcos administration or na ating gobyerno, for sure you you will achieve success. Marami na po ang talagang na na-assist ng ating gobyerno. So we need to make sure that we um we exhaust the full potential that the government gives you. Nandito po ang Marcos administration and ang DTI and all the other government agencies to make sure that we get things done. We take a whole government approach to make sure na talagang ma-push natin kung ano yung mandato ng ating presidente.
