Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi Receives Delegation from the General Union of Agricultural Cooperative Associations ••••• Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi received today, Saturday, a delegation from the General Union of Agricultural Cooperative Associations, headed by the President of the General Union, Wissam Saleh Mahdi, accompanied by the heads of the Union’s Najaf and Diwaniyah branches and a member of the Agricultural Coordination Commission in Najaf Province. The Prime Minister heard a briefing on the current state of the agricultural sector and the key challenges facing farmers, foremost among them the availability of fuel, fertilizers, pesticides, and other agricultural supplies. The Prime Minister affirmed the government’s continued support for the agricultural sector and its efforts to address the challenges facing farmers, in a manner that strengthens domestic production and supports food security and the national economy. Prime Minister Al-Zaidi emphasized the important role of farmers and agricultural producers in achieving food security, increasing agricultural production, and supporting development. He stressed the need to provide the resources necessary to advance the agricultural sector, thereby increasing production and improving farmers’ living standards. The Prime Minister also directed that particular attention be given to fodder crops, especially barley, due to their role in developing livestock resources and sustaining livestock production.
