Kuwait condemns attack on Saudi oil pipeline as threat to regional security

Kuwait City, Sept. 12 (SANA)Kuwait condemned an attack on Saudi Arabia’s East-West oil pipeline, describing it as a violation of Saudi sovereignty and a breach of international law and international humanitarian law, while warning of risks to regional security and energy supplies.

In a statement posted on X Saturday, the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry said the pipeline in the Riyadh and Madinah regions was targeted by several drones launched from Iraqi territory, causing injuries and material damage.

The ministry said such attacks undermine regional security and stability, stressing the need for the Iraqi government to take measures to ensure its territory is not used as a launch point for attacks against neighboring countries.

Kuwaitreaffirmed its full solidarity withSaudi Arabiaand support for measures aimed at protecting its sovereignty, security, stability and interests.

The East-West oil pipeline was targeted Thursday by several drones, resulting in injuries and damage that led to a temporary halt in operations, according to Saudi authorities. The attack drew condemnations from several Arab countries.FJ/HH
