Liverpool, Sept. 12 (SANA)Fulham earned their first Premier League point of the season with a resilient performance in a goalless draw against Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.

The result eased some of the pressure on Fulham manager Alvaro Arbeloa, whose team had lost their opening three league matches since he took charge in the summer.

Liverpool, meanwhile, lacked the intensity they had displayed less than 72 hours earlier in their Champions League victory over Atletico Madrid and failed to score for the first time this season.

Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola made three changes to his starting lineup, bringing in Kostas Tsimikas, Ryan Gravenberch and Victor Munoz for Milos Kerkez, Alexis Mac Allister and Rio Ngumoha.

Arbeloa, who made 98 appearances for Liverpool between 2007 and 2009, introduced Austrian centre-back David Affengruber for his Fulham debut in place of Joachim Andersen, while Sander Berge replaced Cesar Palacios.

Fulham produced the stronger first-half performance and nearly opened the scoring after a mix-up between goalkeeper Alisson and Gravenberch. Gonzalo Garcia’s resulting effort was cleared off the line by Jeremy Jacquet.

Alisson later saved Josh King’s attempt from inside the penalty area, while Antonee Robinson headed wide as the visitors struggled to capitalize on their opportunities.

At the other end, Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno made a strong save to deny Munoz, while Timothy Castagne deflected Bradley Barcola’s volley behind for a corner.

Iraola brought on Kerkez for Tsimikas at halftime before introducing Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo for Gravenberch and Munoz as Liverpool attempted to gain control.

Leno comfortably saved an effort from Alexander Isak and then kept out a powerful strike from Dominik Szoboszlai. Further changes followed, with Ngumoha and Jeremie Frimpong introduced in the 72nd minute, but Liverpool remained unable to break through Fulham’s defense.

Isak headed wide from a corner in stoppage time, while King and Kevin created late opportunities for Fulham, who held on to secure a valuable away point.
