Magnitude 6.2 earthquake strikes Indonesia’s Java island
Jakarta, Sept. 12 (SANA)A magnitude of 6.2 earthquake struckIndonesia’s Java islandon Saturday, with no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
TheGerman Research Centrefor Geosciences (GFZ) said theearthquakeoccurred at a depth of 376 kilometers, Reuters reported.
A magnitude of 6.3 earthquake struck off the coast of Indonesia on July 24.
Indonesia, an archipelago of about 290 million people, lies along the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” one of the world’s most seismically active zones, where several tectonic plates converge and earthquakes and volcanic eruptions occur frequently.
