President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Tolam with his wife Vladimir Putin Đảng Cộng sản Việt Nam Cộng Hòa Xã nghĩa Việt Nam và phu Please. Dear friends, I am pleased to welcome all participants of the ceremony of presenting the International Peace Prize named after Leo Nikolayevich Tolstoy, the great Russian writer, philosopher, humanist and thinker, to our dear friend, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Comrade Tulam. This time, the award ceremony coincided with the birthday of Lev Nikolaevich Tolstoy, which, in my opinion, is deeply symbolic. [clears throat] It is generally recognized that the work of Leo Tolstoy is undoubtedly a global treasure. It is timeless and stronger than any ideological boundaries. has had and continues to have a significant influence on the worldview of intellectuals, statesmen, public figures, people of various nationalities and many generations around the world. I know that in Vietnam they value Tolstoy’s literary and spiritual heritage. The first president of Vietnam, Comrade Ho Chi Minh, wrote in an article published back in 1960 in the Soviet Union in a literary newspaper that he became acquainted with the works of Leo Tolstoy in his early youth. They made, as he wrote, an indelible impression on him and inspired him to become a writer. Ho Chi Minh called himself a humble student of the great Russian writer. He was particularly impressed by Tolstoy's spirit of compassion, his desire to protect the rights of the oppressed, his ideals of goodness and mercy, high morality and ethics, and the fight against evil and violence. All this influenced the leader of the Vietnamese Revolution and inspired him to fight against colonialism for the freedom and independence of his homeland. In Russia, there has always been sincere respect and admiration for the resilience and courage of the people, who have withstood the harsh trials of foreign oppression, armed intervention, and national division. The Vietnamese are well aware of the value of human life, peaceful coexistence, labor and creation. And such a life and spiritual attitude is harmonious and consonant with the humanistic teachings of Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoy. Of course, we all fully support the unanimous decision of the multinational jury to award this year's Tolstoy Peace Prize to the leader of Vietnam, Comrade Talam, and through him to the entire Vietnamese people. Comrade Tulam is truly an authoritative and far-sighted political figure, a true patriot who has chosen the path of devoted service to his homeland and the protection of its national interests. In the highest position, the head of state pursues a balanced domestic and foreign policy course, [snorts] contributing to the strengthening of an independent and sovereign Vietnam, ensuring stability and security in Asia and throughout the world. I see this award as a high assessment of your, comrades, significant personal contribution to deepening friendship and mutual understanding between Russia and Vietnam, as a principled and consistent supporter of the advancement of the Russian-Vietnamese strategic partnership. You constantly monitor the development of direct political, economic and humanitarian contacts between our countries. In conclusion, I would like to remind you that in two years we will celebrate the bicentennial of the birth of Levani Nikolaevich Tolstoy. A rich program of public cultural events is planned, both in Russia and abroad. I am sure that our Vietnamese friends will also take an active part in them. Dear [clears throat] Comrade Tulam, dear friend, I congratulate you with all my heart on this well-deserved and very honorable award. I am confident that this will be appreciated in your country as well. And, of course, I wish you, your family and loved ones all the best , health, happiness, and prosperity to the friendly Vietnamese people. success and prosperity. Thank you. [applause] [applause] Chairman of the jury of the Leo Tolstoy International Peace Prize, artistic director and director of the Mariinsky Theatre, general director of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia Valery Abisalovich Gergiev. Leo Tolstoy Valery Abisalovich Gergiev. Dear friends, the place where our ceremony is taking place was especially dear to Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoy. He married his wife Sophia in the Kremlin Church of the Nativity of the Virgin. Now this ancient temple is part of the Grand Kremlin Palace. I think that this in itself is symbolic. As you know, the jury for the Leo Tolstoy International Peace Prize met in August . This year's award winner, for his significant personal contribution to strengthening peace and cooperation between peoples, was recognized as the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Tolam. This is an award for the leader, but also for the entire Vietnamese people, who have preserved peaceful humanistic values for centuries. My fellow judges noted Vietnam's balanced position on many challenging international issues. Vietnam builds its foreign policy independently and sovereignly. and, with respect for international law, makes efforts to strengthen mutual understanding between peoples, building bridges of dialogue and cooperation with all centers of the multipolar world. I am a musician, and for a musician the concept of harmony is important. By harmony we mean the ability to coordinate different, sometimes even opposing elements to achieve beauty and coherence. It seems to me that the idea of harmony is deeply rooted in the culture of the Vietnamese people. It is a huge gift to be able to find harmony and achieve coherence in an orchestra. And it seems to me that the leaders in this room have mastered this art to the fullest extent . Thank you very much. And let's get down to the awards ceremony. For significant personal contribution to strengthening peace and cooperation between peoples. The Leo Tolstov International Peace Prize is awarded to To Lam, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. vì đã có đông gốp cá nhân tố lớn vào cùng cố hòa bình và hợp tác giữa các dân tộc quyết định trao giải thưởng hòa bình quốc tế mang tên Levi chỗ Tổng Bí thư Ban Chấp hạnh trung ương Đảng Cộng sản Việt Nam Chủ tịch nước Cộng hòa xã hội chủ nghê Việt Nam Tô Lâm [applause] [music] [music] [applause] [applause] [applause] Dear comrade President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, dear Mr. Chairman of the Jury of the International Peace Prize Foundation Valery Abisalovich Gergiev. Ladies and gentlemen, dear friends, it is a great honor and a profound emotion for me to accept the International Peace Prize named after Leo Tolstoy, the great Russian writer and thinker, an outstanding representative of Russian culture and of all humanity. I express my deep gratitude to the members of ZURI, the organizing committee and everyone who honored me with this highly prestigious award. This award is not only a personal honor for me, but also recognition and respect for a people who have had to endure numerous losses in war, a peace-loving people who always strive for development based on the spirit of independence and fortitude in the name of peace, friendship, cooperation and progress for all mankind. The great writer Leo Tolstoy dedicated his entire life to the search for truth, awakening conscience and affirming the strength of humanity, love and the fight against evil and violence. He dreamed that the love of peace would cease to be a timid aspiration of peoples horrified at the sight of the disaster of war, but would become an unshakable demand of an honest conscience. His novel War and Peace has entered the history of world literature as one of the greatest epics, carrying within it profound humanistic values and a philosophical understanding of human life that have retained their significance throughout the centuries. For us, Leo Tolstoy's masterpiece has given many generations of Vietnamese readers the opportunity to touch the depths of the Russian soul, the humanistic depth of Russian literature, the vitality, humanity, and dignity of the Russian people. He inspired and nurtured high ideals in many generations of our youth, starting from their school days. For Vietnamese literature, War and Peace became a kind of beacon of artistic thinking, contributing to a profound transformation of Vietnamese literature, a transition from a patronizing perception to a realistic, humanistic view of war and man. The International Peace Prize, named after the great writer Leo Tolstoy, not only recognizes efforts for peace, but also promotes a spirit of dialogue, responsibility, and solidarity among peoples. The values promoted by the Prize have practical and long-term implications for a peaceful, secure and humane future for all humanity. Dear Comrade President, dear ladies and gentlemen, the history of great Russia and the people of Vietnam, a country with a thousand-year history and rich culture, are in many ways consonant. Our peoples have always faced challenges and overcome them thanks to their strong will, courage, and love for humanity. The 20th century witnessed enormous sacrifices and losses suffered by the Soviet people, including the Russian people. And during the Great Patriotic War, the 20th century also left Vietnam with deep suffering, endured by soldiers, and wounds that have still not been fully healed. Therefore, it is we, like no one else, who fully understand the sacred value of peace. The Vietnamese people have a centuries-old tradition of peacefulness , based on humanity and justice, and have invariably linked the pursuit of peace with national sovereignty. The great President Ho Chi Minh emphasized: "The people of all countries love peace, hate war and want to live free and independent. We understand the value of peace well thanks to our own history and are aware of the value of development thanks to our path of renewal and international integration of our state. We have always been deeply aware that peace, stability and development should become a common denominator for all states and peoples. A thousand-year history has shaped the Vietnamese people with humanistic traditions, a rich original culture and literature, imbued with the spirit of patriotism and love of peace. On this basis, today we strive to build a society based on order, law, security, civilization, harmony, development, in which the individual is the center, subject and driving force of development. Particular attention is paid to education and training of personnel designed to strengthen knowledge, moral qualities, humanity and responsibility to society. We believe that strong and sustainable strength is born from knowledge, mutual understanding, trust and the ability to join efforts to jointly create common goods for the sake of peace and a better future for each person. Based on Based on our own historical experience, we consistently pursue a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, self-reliance , peace, friendship, and cooperation. In today's world, experiencing numerous changes, conflicts, and divisions, we advocate the settlement of any disagreements and disputes by peaceful means based on respect for the UN Charter and international law. We advocate strengthening multilateralism, dialogue, and cooperation. We actively participate in peacekeeping activities, the provision of humanitarian aid, and the joint resolution of common challenges facing humanity. Esteemed Comrade President, ladies and gentlemen, Vietnam and Russia are bound by long-standing traditional relations and a strong, loyal friendship that has stood the test of time and been strengthened through the efforts of many generations. Today, more than ever , Vietnam clearly understands that comprehensive strengthening of bilateral cooperation with Russia based on mutual interests is the most practical contribution to peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region and throughout the world. Entering a new era that poses more high, urgent development goals and objectives , as we express the desire and firm determination to take the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia to a new level in all areas. I express my gratitude for the trust that Comrade President Putin, the jury of the International Peace Prize Foundation, and Russian friends have placed in Vietnam personally, as well as for the President's continued attention to the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia. I am convinced that both sides will be able to more effectively and meaningfully realize the existing potential for cooperation, especially in such strategically important areas as defense and security, energy and the oil and gas industries, and science and technology, as well as intensify humanitarian cooperation in order to take relations between our countries to a new stage of development in the interests of the people of both countries, peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and throughout the world. Dear Comrade President, ladies and gentlemen, for me, receiving the Leo Tolstoy International Peace Prize in Russia is a great honor and a source of enormous support. I would like to dedicate this great honor to the people of Vietnam, To the generations who gave their lives for independence, freedom, and peace, as well as to all those who day and night unite the world through dialogue, courage, and generosity. Once again, I express my deep gratitude to Comrade President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and the chairman of the jury, Valery Abisalovich Gergiev. I wish everyone present here today good health, success, and happiness. Thank you very much. [Applause]
