Il y a 25 ans, une journée ordinaire est devenue l’une des plus sombres de l’histoire.

25 years ago, clear September morning, an otherwise ordinary day uh became one of history's darkest. Nearly 3,000 people, amongst them, 24 Canadians lost their lives, were killed [music] in the worst terrorist attack in American history. This dark moment also brought forth [music] some of our best nature. Firefighters [music] climbing the stairs to rescue those in burning buildings. Rescue workers [music] working for weeks to bring closure. In Canada, our government without hesitation [music] welcomed 224 planes. 17 of our [music] airports. In Gander, the population almost doubled uh with strangers who were given a bed, a hot meal, phone call home. Few years ago, uh I visited Gander and uh [music] spent time with Bula Cooper who one of the heroes. She wouldn't describe herself as a hero. And she had cards from uh a school [music] trip uh kids who'd visited. Um, and one of them said, "Your kindness makes me [music] want to use my kindness."
