Internal Security arrests suspect accused of spying for ousted regime in Idlib
Idlib, Sept. 11 (SANA)Internal Securityforces arrested a man accused of monitoring military sites inIdliband carrying out espionage and sabotage activities on behalf of the security services of the deposed regime.
Internal Security said Friday that investigations found that the suspect, identified as Mohammad Moatasem Shaaban, had photographed and monitored military headquarters and checkpoints in the Jabal al-Zawiya area, from Balyoun to Ariha and Tal Touqan.
He was also accused of monitoring and photographing locations inside Idlib city to provide information for airstrikes that led to martyrdom of several people, as well as documenting the locations where the strikes landed, according to Internal Security.
Investigators also accused Shaaban of planting a GPS tracking device in the Regiment 46 area and of involvement in monitoring and detonating a fuel tanker inside Idlib city.
Authorities said investigations and legal proceedings were continuing to determine whether other members of the alleged network were involved. The suspect will be referred to the competent judiciary once the investigation is completed.
