Kuwait City/ Doha, Sept. 10 (SANA)Kuwait and Qatarwelcomed the International Atomic Energy Agency(IAEA) Board of Governors’ decision to remove the Syria-related non-compliance item from its agenda, describing it as an important step toward strengthening Syria’s cooperation with the agency.

In a statement posted on X Thursday, theKuwaiti Foreign Ministrysaid the decision, adopted by consensus, reflects the positive results of cooperation between Syria and the IAEA and would help bolster international confidence and supportSyria’s engagement with international institutions.

The ministry praised Arab efforts that contributed to the decision and reiterated Kuwait’s support for Syria’s recovery and reconstruction, as well as for the extension of its sovereignty over its entire territory, in a way that promotes security and stability for the Syrian people.

Qatar’s Foreign Ministry,in a statement Wednesday, described the decision as an important development that would enable Syria to restore its normal status within the agency.

It said the move would allow Syria to benefit more broadly from thepeaceful applicationsof nuclear energy, support development and reconstruction efforts, promote stability and improve living standards.

Qatar also thanked the countries that placed their trust in Syria and contributed to facilitating the adoption of the decision.

The IAEA Board of Governors adopted the decision Wednesday, drawing widespread Arab and international support.
