Santiago, Thursday, September 10, 2026.-The President of the Republic, José Antonio Kast, received this Thursday at the La Moneda Palace the president of the Inter-American Development Bank Group (IDB), Ilan Goldfajn, within the framework of the joint work between the international organization and the Government of Chile to strengthen cooperation in different strategic areas for the country. During the meeting, the progress of the Country Strategy 2027–2030 was addressed, an instrument that will define the main areas of collaboration between Chile and the IDB Group over the coming years. Among the priority areas is support for the implementation of the Framework Law of Sector Authorizations and the critical minerals agenda, in addition to joint work with the Ministry of Finance in the design of the National Housing Fund (FONAVI) and its financing mechanisms. The meeting also allowed for the review of initiatives aimed at promoting knowledge-based services, as well as cooperation in disaster risk management. In this last area, the IDB contemplates two emergency technical cooperation for US$500 thousand each, along with the assessment of damage in Atacama and Coquimbo and support for the reconstruction processes and the 2027 Budget. Likewise, cooperation in security was addressed, aimed at strengthening the capacities of the police, the Public Ministry, Justice and Gendarmerie, in addition to support for the financing of prison infrastructure. Regional integration and connectivity initiatives were also analyzed, including Conexión Sur. The event also highlighted the IDB Group's decision to expand its presence in Chile through a new Country Office in Santiago, which will strengthen coordination between IDB, IDB Invest and IDB Lab and will seek to facilitate permanent dialogue with the Government and the private sector, in addition to accelerating new opportunities for collaboration. Goldfajn has presided over the IDB since 2022 and previously served as director of the Fund's Western Hemisphere Department. International Monetary and governor of the Central Bank of Brazil.

Santiago, jueves 10 de septiembre de 2026.-El Presidente de la República, José Antonio Kast, recibió este jueves en el Palacio de La Moneda al presidente del Grupo Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID), Ilan Goldfajn, en el marco del trabajo conjunto entre el organismo internacional y el Gobierno de Chile para fortalecer la cooperación en distintas áreas estratégicas para el país.Durante el encuentro se abordó el avance de la Estrategia de País 2027–2030, instrumento que definirá las principales áreas de colaboración entre Chile y el Grupo BID durante los próximos años.Entre los ámbitos prioritarios se encuentra el apoyo a la implementación de la Ley Marco de Autorizaciones Sectoriales y a la agenda de minerales críticos, además del trabajo conjunto con el Ministerio de Hacienda en el diseño del Fondo Nacional de Vivienda (FONAVI) y sus mecanismos de financiamiento.La reunión también permitió revisar iniciativas destinadas a impulsar los servicios basados en conocimiento, así como la cooperación en materia de gestión de riesgos de desastres. En este último ámbito, el BID contempla dos cooperaciones técnicas de emergencia por US$500 mil cada una, junto con la evaluación de daños en Atacama y Coquimbo y apoyo a los procesos de reconstrucción y al Presupuesto 2027.Asimismo, se abordó la cooperación en seguridad, orientada al fortalecimiento de las capacidades de las policías, el Ministerio Público, Justicia y Gendarmería, además del apoyo al financiamiento de infraestructura carcelaria. También se analizaron iniciativas de integración regional y conectividad, entre ellas Conexión Sur.En la instancia se destacó, además, la decisión del Grupo BID de ampliar su presencia en Chile mediante una nueva Oficina País en Santiago, que reforzará la coordinación entre BID, BID Invest y BID Lab y buscará facilitar un diálogo permanente con el Gobierno y el sector privado, además de acelerar nuevas oportunidades de colaboración.Goldfajn preside el BID desde 2022 y anteriormente se desempeñó como director del Departamento del Hemisferio Occidental del Fondo Monetario Internacional y gobernador del Banco Central de Brasil.
