Caasd inicia el saneamiento de cañada en Los Guaricanos
Santo Domingo Norte.- With a symbolic palazzo, the general director of the Santo Domingo Aqueduct and Sewer Corporation (Caasd), engineer Fellito Suberví, started the work for the stormwater and sanitary sanitation of the Yaguasa riverbed (Juan Vaquero), in Barrio Norte of the Los Guaricanos sector, which will solve a years-long problem for the municipalities of this town, with the elimination of environmental pollution and floods.
Engineer Suberví explained that the work has an investment of RD 266.1 million, and will be characterized by the total coverage of the tributary with a box-type sewer, in reinforced concrete and with a double section, which will allow the elimination of the source of environmental contamination and unhealthiness that it represents for the inhabitants of the Barrio Nuevo and Nueva Isabel sectors of Los Guaricanos.
"Santo Domingo Norte is the municipality that has the most ravines in all of Greater Santo Domingo, and since the beginning of this management we have been identifying each tributary and giving it a solution. So there are no more worries about flooding when nature punishes, with this sanitation we will leave a clean and collected place where they can walk without fear of stepping in the mud or sinking in the wastewater," said Fellito Suberví.
The director of the Caasd reported that the intervention of the Yaguasa or Juan Vaquero canyon constitutes the first of the formal acts that the institution will carry out to begin the cleanup of other tributaries in different points of Santo Domingo Norte.
Among the planned interventions, Suberví mentioned the Campechito ravines, Yaguasa River, Mata Los Indios, Brisa del Norte, Pablito, La Pipiota, Sabana Perdida Wetlands and Colina del Arroyo II, as well as the conclusion of the Marañón ravine. These works represent almost six kilometers of the 17 that are in the process of intervention.
During the activity, Mayor Betty Gerónimo thanked President Luis Abinadery and the director of the Caasd for promoting the intervention of the Yaguasa Canyon, a work that, as indicated, will benefit nine sectors of that municipality.
"Thanks to our president Luis Abinader and our beloved director Fellito Suberví, who has put all his effort into this, which was a dream and today is a reality. This milestone that we have just given to begin the cleanup of the Yaguasa canyon represents a campaign promise that we made several years ago and that today is beginning to come true," said Gerónimo.
The mayor stated that the execution of the project will transform the lives of the inhabitants of the benefited communities, by improving their environment, their health and their living conditions.
"We are going to change and transform the lives of these residents, improve their quality of life and health, and create social areas that allow them to enjoy a different environment. I congratulate Fellito for all his efforts and, mainly, for focusing on Santo Domingo Norte. It is not only this work, but many more are coming to improve the quality of life of our residents," he stated.
The activity was attended by deputies Junior Muñoz, Manuel Núñez and Patricia Núñez, as well as local authorities, community leaders and residents who will benefit from the work.
The sanitation of the Yaguasa canyon consists of the construction of 785 linear meters of reinforced concrete box-type culvert and double hydraulic section of 2.5 x 2.0 meters. It also involves the placement of 1,601 linear meters of 12-inch PVC pipe, the construction of 28 sanitary manholes in bricks, 320 sanitary connections and 27 storm drains.
Also, the renovation involves the construction of 1,570 linear meters containing the same number of sidewalks; the placement of 4,710 linear meters of asphalt layer, which, once the work is completed, will become a street where people can travel freely; repair of 50 housing units, exterior lighting and landscaping.
Other components that will characterize the infrastructure in its first phase are: cleaning and clearing of the ravine; supply and placement of 17,154 cubic meters of caliche; 3,110 cubic meters of coarse coarse stone for embankment and 108 cubic meters of coarse sand, among other materials.
"This is the first palazo of a total of 25 ravines that we are going to intervene in Greater Santo Domingo and the National District, equivalent to 17 kilometers. Of those 25 ravines, 10 are located in North Santo Domingo and represent almost six kilometers of intervention," explained engineer Suberví.

Así que no hay más preocupaciones por inundaciones cuando la naturaleza castiga, con este saneamiento dejaremos un lugar limpio y recogido por donde podrán caminar sin miedo a pisar el lodo o hundirse entre las aguas residuales”,expresó Fellito Suberví. El director de la Caasd informó que la intervención de la cañada Yaguasa o Juan Vaquero constituye elprimero de los actos formalesque realizará la institución para iniciar el saneamiento de otros afluentes en diferentes puntos deSanto Domingo Norte. Entre las intervenciones previstas, Suberví mencionó las cañadasCampechito, río Yaguasa, Mata Los Indios, Brisa del Norte, Pablito, La Pipiota, Humedales de Sabana Perdida y Colina del Arroyo II,así como la conclusión de la cañada deMarañón.Estas obras representan casi seis kilómetros de los 17 que se encuentran en proceso de intervención. Durante la actividad,la alcaldesa Betty Gerónimo, agradeció alpresidente Luis Abinadery al director de la Caasd por impulsar la intervención de la cañada Yaguasa, una obra que, según indicó, beneficiará a nueve sectores de ese municipio. “Gracias a nuestro presidente Luis Abinader y a nuestro querido director Fellito Suberví, quien ha puesto todo su empeño en esto, que era un sueño y hoy es una realidad. El saneamiento de la cañada Yaguasa consiste en la construcción de785 metros linealesde alcantarilla tipo cajón en hormigón armado y de doble sección hidráulica de 2.5 x 2.0 metros. También conlleva la colocación de 1,601 metros lineales de tubería de 12 pulgadas en PVC, la construcción de 28 registros sanitarios en ladrillos, 320 acometidas sanitarias y 27 tragantes pluviales. También, el remozamiento implica la construcción de1,570 metros lineales de contenese igual cantidad de aceras; la colocación de4,710 metros linealesde capa asfáltica, que, una vez concluida la obra, se convertirá en una calle por donde se podrá transitar con libertad; lareparación de 50 unidades habitacionales, iluminación exterior y paisajismo. Otros componentes que caracterizarán la infraestructura en su primera fase son: limpieza y desmonte de la cañada; suministro y colocación de 17,154 metros cúbicos de caliche; 3,110 metros cúbicos de tosca gruesa para pedraplén y108 metros cúbicos de arena gruesa, entre otros materiales. “Este es el primer palazo de un total de 25 cañadas que vamos a intervenir en el Gran Santo Domingo y el Distrito Nacional, equivalentes a 17 kilómetros. De esas 25 cañadas, 10 están ubicadas en Santo Domingo Norte y representan casi seis kilómetros de intervención”,explicó el ingeniero Suberví.
