Tecnificación Nacional de Riego entrega más de RD 14 millones en bonificaciones para proyectos agrícolas en Ocoa y Peravia
Santo Domingo.-Twenty-two producers from the provinces of San José de Ocoa and Peravi received bonus certificates corresponding to the calls for medium-sized projects in the Southern and National Photovoltaic region, totaling an amount of RD 14,587,494.82, granted by the Executive Directorate of National Irrigation Technology (TNR), through the Fund for the Promotion of the Technology of the National Irrigation System. Irrigation (Fotesir), aimed at promoting the efficient use of water and the use of solar energy in irrigation systems.
Of the total amount, RD 11,630,107.02 were allocated to 17 producers in the National Photovoltaic call, while RD 2,957,387.80 corresponded to five producers in the Southern region.
During the delivery ceremony, the director of the TNR, Claudio Caamaño Vélez, highlighted that the incorporation of efficient irrigation systems and photovoltaic technology represents an alternative that directly benefits producers, by allowing them to reduce their operating costs and move towards more sustainable agricultural production.
Caamaño Vélez maintained that integrating irrigation technology with solar energy sources constitutes a significant step towards more efficient agriculture, with lower production costs and greater capacity to confront the effects of climate change.
He explained that the promotion of photovoltaic energy responds to a comprehensive vision of the modernization of irrigation, which transcends the modernization of hydraulic infrastructures and seeks to incorporate technological tools and solutions aimed at improving the economic and environmental performance of agricultural activities.
Photovoltaic systems will allow producers to take advantage of solar radiation to power the equipment used in the pumping and distribution of irrigation water. In this way, dependence on conventional energy sources is reduced and more favorable conditions are generated for the sustainability of productive work.
It should be noted that the Fotesir bonuses, together with the financial support of the Bagri-Riego program, have contributed to reducing the average costs per task of irrigation systems, from RD 35,000, reported in the statistics of the Agricultural Bank, to RD 15,978.41.
With the delivery of these 22 certificates, the number of subsidized producers to date in different regions of the country rises to 178.
The initiative strengthens the response capacity of the TNR to drought and climate change, while promoting an agricultural model based on the modernization of irrigation and the use of renewable energy sources, with a view to increasing the competitiveness and adaptation capacity of the agricultural sector.

Los sistemas fotovoltaicos permitirán a los productores aprovechar la radiación solar para alimentar los equipos utilizados en el bombeo y la distribución del agua de riego. De esta manera, sereduce la dependencia de fuentes convencionales de energíay se generan condiciones más favorables para la sostenibilidad de las labores productivas. Cabe resaltar que las bonificaciones del Fotesir junto con el apoyo financiero del programaBagri-Riego, han contribuido a disminuir los costos promedio por tarea de los sistemas de riego, pasando deRD 35,000, reportados en las estadísticas delBanco Agrícola,aRD 15,978.41. Con la entrega de estos22 certificados, asciende a178el número de productores bonificados hasta la fecha en distintas regiones del país. La iniciativafortalece la capacidad de respuestade la TNR frente a lasequía y el cambio climático,al tiempo que promueve un modelo agrícola sustentado en latecnificación del riegoy el aprovechamiento de fuentes de energía renovable, con miras aelevar la competitividad y la capacidad de adaptacióndel sector agropecuario.
