Beijing, Sept. 10 (SANA)An international alliance aimed at combating cross-border telecommunications and cyber fraud was launched Thursday in Lianyungang, easternChina, bringing together 46 founding countries, 34 observer countries and four international organizations, including the United Nations andInterpol.

The alliance was established at a conference in Lianyungang, eastern China, with representatives from 46 founding countries, 34 observer countries and four international organizations, including the United Nations and Interpol, according to China’s Xinhua News Agency.

Initiated by the Chinese government, the intergovernmental organization will focus on closer cooperation among law enforcement agencies to combat telecommunications andcyber fraudand related crimes.

Participants issued a joint statement describing cyber-enabled fraud as a growing global challenge that requires stronger international coordination.

The statement said a more focused and action-oriented framework based on international agreements could improve coordination between countries, strengthen efforts to tackle cross-border fraud and protect the rights and interests of individuals and organizations.
