Israeli occupation forces detained over 100 Palestinians in West Bank in one week
Occupied Jerusalem, Sept. 10 (SANA)Israeli occupation forces detained more than 100Palestiniansin theWest Bankover the past week, including children, women, former detainees and journalists, the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society said Thursday.
In a statement carried by WAFA news agency, the society said the occupation forces were continuing to escalate detention operations across the West Bank’s governorates. It said the campaign during the past week alone targeted more than 100 Palestinians and was accompanied by a series of violations and crimes, including field executions, on-site interrogations of dozens of Palestinians, beatings and abuse, as well as threats against detainees and their families.
ThePalestinian Prisoners’ Societysaid occupation forces carried out wide-scale raids on homes during the arrests, searched and vandalized their contents, damaged property and turned several homes into military posts. In some cases, Palestinians were held hostage to pressure their relatives, while collective detention operations continued to target entire areas and neighborhoods during the incursions.
Meanwhile, settlers continued to carry out violations and attacks against Palestinians and their property under the protection and support of occupation forces, as part of an escalating system of targeting Palestinians in the West Bank.
Detention and abuse in the West Bank have intensified since the start of the genocide war on Gaza on Oct. 7, 2023, the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society said. Since then, more than 25,000 Palestinians have been detained in the West Bank, in addition to thousands detained from the Gaza Strip.
