تصريح وزير خارجية سلوفاكيا عقب استقباله من قبل رئيس الجمهورية

I am pleased to announce that we are building a new era. Of joint cooperation between the Slovak Republic and Algeria. Today we are opening the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Algeria. This comes after a period of preparation and work that lasted two years. We wish today to develop this cooperation, based on the principles of respect, stability, and joint action. I held very fruitful discussions with the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the presence of Mr. Ahmed Attaf. Where we discussed many files. And we signed important documents, most notably the agreement on economic cooperation. Which represents a fundamental pillar for establishing a joint governmental committee for economic cooperation. In addition to a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of academic diplomacy. We have agreed to cooperate regarding the Security Council and the United Nations . As we have been supporters of Algeria's efforts to become a non-permanent member. We also enjoy mutual support from Algeria as well. We are looking forward to 2029 and we have agreed to benefit from your expertise in this field. We have a lot of things that we need to do. I would like to raise a highly important issue when it comes to our future cooperation, which is the issue of gas. Algeria is the third-largest supplier of gas to the European Union. It is also a key partner for Slovakia. Not only for this reason, but also because of the connection via the pipeline. Which passes through Italy to reach the European Union and the Republic. Slovakia as well. Therefore, the first task for us is to complete the contract regarding purchasing gas from your country, and I am very happy that these discussions have already begun a few weeks ago in Berlin and are continuing today in Algiers, and we hope to complete them soon. We also agreed to hold the first joint economic committee between Slovakia and Algeria in Slovakia early next year. With the aim of identifying future areas of cooperation. After that, our Prime Minister, Mr. Fico, intends to visit Algeria accompanied by a delegation. Of businessmen. I also convey to you the invitation of our President, Mr. Peter Pellegrini, to His Excellency your President. The presence of the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of our Parliament emphasizes the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in developing our relations. We also discussed the possibilities of cooperation in the field of higher education, technology, and benefiting from Slovakia's experience in defense industries. However, the most important foundation for our cooperation is our two countries 'commitment to international law and the peaceful settlement of disputes, which is a firm principle in our foreign policy. My first visit to Algeria was special, and we have found true friends. As a member of both the European Union and NATO, we share many areas of cooperation, as Algeria is a partner to the European Union and a collaborator with NATO, which allows us to expand our partnership at various levels. Thank you very much for the warm welcome, and I look forward to fruitful and sustainable cooperation between the Slovak Republic and Algeria .
