Today, President of the Republic of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the European Union to Turkmenistan, Luc-Pierre Devin. He presented his credentials to the Turkmen leader. Expressing his sincere gratitude to the Turkmen leader for taking the time to accept, the diplomat said that it was a great honor for him to represent the European Union in Turkmenistan, which implements a peace-loving foreign policy based on the principles of positive neutrality, and took the opportunity to convey the warm greetings of the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, to the Turkmen leader, our Heroic Friend. He sincerely congratulated him on his appointment to a high diplomatic position and wished him great success in his work to further develop relations between our country and the European Union. As it was emphasized during the meeting, Turkmenistan attaches great importance to relations with the European Union. This organization is one of the important international partners of the country, and in recent years these relations have been developed in the spirit of mutual respect, trust, and multifaceted cooperation based on common interests. Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the further development of the political dialogue with the European Union, to the activation of discussions on international and regional issues of mutual interest. Trade and economic cooperation is one of the important areas. In this regard, the Turkmen leader pointed out that there are great opportunities for increasing trade turnover, expanding business relations with European companies, and implementing new investment projects. Also, our country attaches great importance to cooperation in the fields of energy, transport-logistics, industry, agriculture, digital technologies, and environmental protection. The interlocutors expressed the need to expand cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union in the field of transport and communication, noting that the development of routes leading to European markets through the Caspian Sea and the opportunities of the Trans-Caspian transport corridor are in line with common interests. Along with this, it was said that there are great opportunities to expand cooperation in the energy sector, including the development of renewable energy sources, transition to a "green" economy. Cultural-humanitarian cooperation is also an important area. In this regard, it was emphasized that cooperation in the fields of education, science and culture serves to strengthen mutual understanding. The diplomat once again thanked President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for his cordial reception and assured that he will make every effort to further expand the traditional friendly relations between Turkmenistan and the European Union.
