Presidenta de Cámara de Santo Domingo destaca crecimiento de las exportaciones, que alcanzan USD 9,277 millones
Santo Domingo.– During the opening ceremony of the seventh edition of the Santo Domingo 2026 Chamber Hub held in the Garden Tent Room of the El Embajador Hotel, the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Production of Santo Domingo, Lucile Houellemont Jimenes, highlighted this Wednesday the dynamism maintained by the Dominican economy, highlighting that during the first six months of 2026, almost 18,000 new companies were created, while Exports reached USD 9,277 million in the first seven months of the year, for a growth of 12% compared to the same period in 2025, under the leadership of President Luis Abinader.
During the event, which was attended by the president, the president of the Santo Domingo Chamber highlighted that the Dominican Republic has a dynamic economy, which is a cause for celebration due to the impact that business formalization has on job creation and national development.
“Behind every formal company there is an entrepreneurial dream, a commitment to the present of our nation, a source of concrete employment for the development of the country,” he stated.
The business executive also highlighted the conditions that the Dominican Republic offers to promote new investments and expand its presence in international markets, among them, the five free trade agreements that cover nearly 50 countries and allow access to preferential markets with more than 800 million consumers.
Houllemont Jimenes also cited the country's strategic location, interconnected road networks, modern, internationally certified ports, the ability to receive deep-draft vessels and 24-hour customs clearance programs as advantages that favor the development of commercial activities. “But, before reaching our ports, we must take the first step: create the company.”
In this context, he explained that Hub Cámara Santo Domingo was born 11 years ago as a bridge to connect the Dominican exportable offer with international markets and that, upon reaching its seventh edition, it is consolidated as a multi-sector platform to promote alliances and generate new commercial opportunities.
More than 150 international buyers
The president of the Chamber of Commerce and Production of Santo Domingo reported that, together with ProDominicana, this edition brings together more than 150 international buyers, the largest number in the history of the event, to establish commercial connections with around 300 Dominican exporters.
He indicated that these exporters present to the international market a wide diversity of products made in the Dominican Republic, which strengthens business opportunities and the expansion of the national offer.
Digital transformation and legal security
Houllemont Jimenes argued that, to facilitate business, it is also necessary to transform, improve and adapt processes to new times, which is why he highlighted the reform promoted by the Chamber of Commerce and Production of Santo Domingo to strengthen business legal security.
He explained that the unified management platform of the Commercial Registry and the Unified Criteria are part of the same reform aimed at making business creation and management procedures more predictable, agile and secure.
He added that the country's 32 chambers of commerce operate interconnectedly and that the corporate information of companies established in the Dominican Republic is kept in a secure digital repository, both on disks and in the cloud.
“With this, President Abinader, we offer greater confidence to local and foreign capital, so that they continue to commit to doing business with the Dominican Republic,” he stated.
Houellemont Jimenes concluded by reaffirming the commitment of the Santo Domingo Chamber of Commerce and Production to continue facilitating business, strengthening MSMEs and creating opportunities so that Dominican entrepreneurs and exporters can expand into new markets.

Explicó que laplataforma unificadade gestión delRegistro Mercantil y los Criterios Unificadosforman parte de una misma reforma orientada a hacer más predecibles, ágiles y seguros los trámites de creación y gestión de empresas. Añadió quelas32 cámaras de comercio del paísoperan de forma interconectaday que la información societaria de las empresas establecidas en República Dominicana se encuentra resguardada en unrepositorio digital seguro, tanto en discos como en la nube. “Con esto, presidente Abinader, ofrecemos mayor confianza al capital local y extranjero, para que siga apostando por hacer negocios con la República Dominicana”,afirmó.
