Historias de la diáspora vuelven a ser protagonistas en la quinta edición del concurso “Huellas de mi Quisqueya”
Santo Domingo.– The Institute of Dominicans Abroad (Index) launched the fifth edition of the short film contest “Huellas de mi Quisqueya”, an initiative that seeks to promote the audiovisual talent of Dominicans residing abroad and strengthens their ties with Dominican identity, culture and roots.
The event was headed by the vice minister for Dominican Communities Abroad and executive director of the Index, ambassador Celinés Toribio, who highlighted that the event seeks to provide the diaspora with a space to tell, from their own perspective, stories related to their experiences, customs and ties with the Dominican Republic, regardless of where they are.
“This contest represents an opportunity for our Dominicans abroad to share, from their own perspective, the stories that reflect who we are and that connection with the Dominican Republic that remains alive regardless of the distance,” said Toribio.
The vice minister also highlighted the growth of the initiative, which in its previous editions has brought together more than 300 participants from 35 countries, and urged Dominicans residing abroad to participate.
During the meeting, Yasmara Mejía, head of the Department of Cultural, Sports, Social and Educational Promotion of the Index, explained that those interested in participating in the contest have until November 9, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. (local time in the Dominican Republic) to complete their registration.
The call is aimed at people 18 years of age or older, of Dominican nationality or descendants of Dominicans, who have been residing outside the Dominican Republic for at least one year and have current legal immigration status in their country of residence.
Those interested in participating can enter the web portal: index.gob.do/huellasdemiquisqueya to consult the legal bases and complete their registration in the Amateur and Filmmakers categories.
The initiative is sponsored by Banco BHD, official sponsor of the competition, as well as the collaboration of the General Directorate of Cinema (DGCINE) and Caribbean Cinemas.

Los interesados en participar pueden ingresar al portal web: index.gob.do/huellasdemiquisqueya para consultar las bases legales y completar su inscripción en lascategorías Amateur y Cineastas. La iniciativa cuenta con el auspicio del Banco BHD, patrocinador oficial de la competencia, así como la colaboración de la Dirección General de Cine(DGCINE)y Caribbean Cinemas.
