Inapa presentará ante la OEA los avances del país en agua y saneamiento
Santo Domingo.– Within the framework of the extraordinary meeting that will be held by the Inter-American Council for Integral Development (CIDI), the executive director of the National Institute of Drinking Water and Sewage (Inapa), Wellington Arnaud, will present to the Organization of American States (OAS) the progress and experiences of the Dominican Republic in terms of drinking water and coastal sanitation.
The meeting will be held this Thursday, September 10, starting at 2:30 in the afternoon, at the OAS headquarters, in Washington D.C., under the motto “Clean water, strong communities, a more resilient hemisphere.”
Arnaud will be in charge of the main presentation on the Coastal Water and Sanitation Program of the Dominican Republic, through which he will present the national experience and the lessons that the country can contribute to strengthening hemispheric cooperation.
The intervention will allow the delegations of the OAS Member States to share the extraordinary management of President Luis Abinader and the initiatives promoted by the Dominican Government to expand access to drinking water, improve sanitation systems, and contribute to the protection of communities and coastal areas.
The Inter-American Council for Integral Development is one of the main organs of the OAS and depends directly on its General Assembly. It is made up of all member states and has decision-making capacity in matters of solidarity cooperation, with the purpose of supporting comprehensive development and contributing to poverty reduction.
Meetings like this favor the exchange of experiences, the identification of common solutions and the strengthening of collaboration between countries to face regional challenges related to water, sanitation and the resilience of communities.
The meeting includes the words of the Secretary General of the OAS, Albert Ramdin; the president of CIDI and permanent representative of Antigua and Barbuda to the OAS, Sir Ronald Sanders, and the ambassador and permanent representative of the Dominican Republic to that organization, Mayerlyn Cordero Díaz.
The program also includes the interventions of Francisco González, representative of the Sanitation and Solid Waste area of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and Andrés Sánchez, manager of the Water Program for the Americas of the OAS.
Subsequently, a space will be opened for questions and comments from participating delegations.
Wellington Arnaud's presentation before this international organization represents an opportunity to project the progress of the Dominican Republic and position the national experience as a reference for the development of sustainable drinking water and sanitation solutions in the Americas.

Está integrado por todos los Estados miembros y tienecapacidad decisoria en materia de cooperación solidaria, con el propósito de apoyar eldesarrollo integraly contribuir a lareducción de la pobreza. Encuentros como este favorecen elintercambio de experiencias, la identificación desoluciones comunesy el fortalecimiento de la colaboración entre los países para afrontardesafíos regionalesrelacionados con elagua, elsaneamientoy laresilienciade las comunidades.
