Türkiye Welcomes 12-Country Decision to Restrict Trade with Israeli Settlements

Ankara, Sept. 9 (SANA)Türkiye welcomed on Wednesday a decision by 12 countries to impose restrictions on commercial and economic activities with Israeli settlements in theoccupied West Bank.

Head of Türkiye’s Presidential Communications DirectorateBurhanettin Duransaid the decision carries great importance, calling on the international community to strengthen its resolve and increase measures to confrontIsrael’s illegal policies.

In a post on the Turkish social media platform “NSosyal,” Duran said practices that disregard international law in the Palestinian territories should not go without consequences, amid the continuing destruction and humanitarian tragedy in theGaza Strip.

Duran stressed that Türkiye will continue to defend the just cause of the Palestinian people and make every possible effort to establish justice and peace in the region.

On Tuesday, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom announced their intention to impose national restrictions and support European restrictions on trade in goods produced inIsraeli settlementsestablished onoccupied Palestinian territories, considering them illegal under international law.
