Three killed, 23 injured in traffic accidents across Syria
Damascus, Sept. 9 (SANA)Three people were killed and 23 others injured in 19traffic accidentsacross Syria over the past 24 hours, theSyrian Civil Defenseat the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management said Wednesday.
In a statement posted on its Telegram channel, the Civil Defense said its teams provided first aid to the injured before transferring them to hospitals for necessary treatment. Crews also cleared the aftermath of the accidents and secured the affected sites.
The Civil Defense urged drivers to reduce speed, ensure their vehicles are in good technical condition, and check their brakes and windshield wipers. It also warned against unsafe behaviors that can distract drivers, including the use ofmobile phones.
Separately, Civil Defense teams responded Tuesday to 92 fires, including three in fields and agricultural crops. The remaining fires occurred at various locations, including homes, shops, areas of grass and trees, garbage sites and electrical wiring.
The teams extinguished the fires and cooled theaffected sites.No injuries were reported, with damage limited to property.
The Civil Defense urged the public not to light fires in forested areas or agricultural fields and not to discard cigarette butts or glass containers along roadsides, particularly near crops and forests.
It also called on residents to avoid burning dry grass around homes or along roadsides and to remove it using safe methods.
Two days earlier, one person was killed and 18 others were injured in traffic accidents and fires in different parts of Syria, according to the Civil Defense.
