Damascus, Sept. 8 (SANA)Syria and Germany’sKfWDevelopment Bank are seeking to accelerate joint health projects and address financing and implementation challenges as part of efforts to support the recovery of Syria’shealth sector.Health MinisterMusab al-Alidiscussed the projects with a KfW delegation headed by Anna-Christine Janke during a meeting at the ministry in Damascus on Monday.The talks focused on financing mechanisms, obstacles affecting ongoing projects and measures needed to speed up implementation and improve healthcare services.Al-Ali said accelerating the projects would support Syria’s recovery and help create conditions conducive to the return of Syrians to the country.He also called for a sustainable partnership withGermanybased on exchanging expertise and drawing on international experience, particularly German and Japanese post-war reconstruction models, to strengthen the health sector and promote greater self-reliance.Janke reaffirmed KfW’s commitment to implementing the agreed projects and said the bank was prepared to accelerate work and cooperate in addressing existing challenges.KfW, a development finance institution owned by the German government, was established in 1948 and finances sustainable development projects worldwide, including initiatives focused on environmental protection, climate change and job creation.In August, al-Ali metMarcus Hicken, chargé d’affaires of the German Embassy in Damascus, to discuss expanding Syrian-German cooperation in the health sector and supporting recovery and sustainable development.
