His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, emphasized the importance of a distinguished representation for all national teams —Team Bahrain—at the Asian Games to be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4, aiming to return with achievements worthy of Bahraini sports 'standing and reputation. This came as he chaired the eighth Board of Directors meeting of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, held at Al-Wadi Palace in Riffa. His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad was briefed on the latest preparations. undertaken by the Bahrain Olympic Committee. for participation in the Asian Games. as well as the participating sports and the size of the delegation. His Highness was also briefed on the preparations for participation. in the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar 2026 and the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Riyadh 2026. The latest updates regarding the Kingdom of Bahrain's hosting of the Arab Games, scheduled for 2027, were also reviewed, along with the progress of preparations for the Kingdom of Bahrain's participation in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games. During the meeting, it was decided that the Kingdom of Bahrain would host the 38th meeting of Their Highnesses, Excellencies, and Gentlemen Presidents of the National Olympic Committees of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, as well as the 102nd Executive Office meeting. The Secretary-General of the Olympic Committee, Mr. Faris Mustafa Al-Kooheji , reviewed the achievements. in sports during the first quarter of 2026, most notably the men's national handball team winning the Asian Championship title, the results of the national teams in the 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya 2026, and the 4th Gulf Games in Doha 2026. The Committee's achievements for 2025 and the latest developments regarding the International Aquatics Federation project and GFH Financial Group were also reviewed. The meeting discussed activating the implementation of the training and coaches regulations in the sports sector across all sports federations. It was decided to appoint PKF Al-Bassam to audit the accounting records. for the sports federations for the year 2026. The proposals submitted by sports federations during the Ordinary General Assembly of the Bahrain Olympic Committee were discussed. Under "any other business," it was decided to organize the fifth edition of the Bahrain Junior Olympics and the 2026 Olympic Day event in the last quarter of the current year.
