Senior officials of government here present. Members of the judiciary, if any, members of the cabinet, officials to be commissioned. He has supported family members, the members of the media, distinguished ladies and gentlemen, today we gather for a simple but very important purpose to formally commission a group of Liberians who have been called to serve their country in different positions. and responsibilities. Some of you have some of you will serve out of our stateowned enterprises. Some at National Elections Commission, others who serve as assistant ministers, superintendent of counties, local government officials, deputies, assistants, and other important position across the government. I want to thank those of you who are already in service, some of you who have performed well and doing your best for your country. For those of you are committed to serve, your titles and responsibilities may be different, but the obligation you assume today is the same. to serve the Liberian people faithfully, honestly, and effectively. Let me ever congratulate you all. Your appointment represent the confidence we have placed in your ability to contribute to the work of the government. But I want you to understand that appointment to public office is not a reward. It is not an entitlement. It's certainly not a license to exercise power for personal benefit. Public office is a trust. The authority you receive today belongs ultimately to the Liberian people. You are only its temporary custodian. And so when you leave here today, do not simply leave with a commission and a new title. Leave with an understanding of responsibility that comes with it. Ladies and gentlemen, our people are impatient for progress and improvement in their daily lives and they have a right to be so. This is why the arrest agenda for inclusive development cannot simply remain a government document but a collection of promises. It must translate into results that people can see, feel and experience. And that responsibility belongs to all of us. For those of you going to be SE own enterprises, remember that these institutions belong to the Liberian people. They must be professionally managed, financially responsible, transparent, and accountable. Stateowned enterprises cannot become places where resources are [snorts] wasted or where employment and contract are distributed simply because of relationships. They must deliver the services on which they were established and contribute to our national development. To the chairman of the National Election Commission, as I single you out, your responsibility is particularly sensitive. The credibility of your democracy depends heavily on the independence, integrity, fairness, and professionalism of the institution that administer our elections. You must therefore work with your colleagues and conduct yourself in that manner that earns the confidence of the Liberians regardless of political parties, religion, ethnicity or personal association. to the vice chairperson of the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission. You assume your office at a time when our people rightly expect greater accountability and integrity in public office. I urge you to discharge your responsibility without fear of favor guided solely by law, evidence and the national interest. Our fight against corruption must be credible, impartial, and uncompromising. to our assistant minister and other officials of the executive branch. I expect you to work support your ministers and agencies that you had bring ideas, solve problems, respect the chain of command, but do not be afraid to offer thoughtful and professional service. Government cannot function effectively when officials are more concerned about titles than responsibilities. And to our superintendent official of government, let me speak directly to you. You are the face of the government and our counties and communities. far too long. Super superintendent think that the only thing it to recede the president and other officials is not ceremonial. For many Liberians outside Morovia, their interaction with you is their interaction with the administration. Be accessible to them. Listen to them. work with traditional leaders, legislators, civil society, women, youth, religious leaders, and communities. Do not allow your political difference to prevent you from serving anyone. Once you assume public office, your responsibility extend beyond those who supported you. You are there to serve Liberians. Ladies and gentlemen, I also want to remind you that this administration has made accountability, integrity, and the rule of law central to work. We will support you when you do what is right. will give you the opportunity to perform, but we will also hold you accountable. And do not confuse access to government resources with ownership of government resources. The cars, the offices, the budget, equipment and authority entrusted to you belong the people of Liberia. Use them accordingly. There will be challenges. You will sometimes have limited resources. You will face criticism. You make difficult decisions. But never allow those challenges to become excuses for inaction. Uh people have heard enough explanations about why things cannot be done. They want leaders who will find ways to get things done. That is the standard I expect from all of you those serving in government. As president, I will continue to demand performance from every official entrusted with public responsibility. I expect you to set measurable goals, work collaboratively, and judge your own success by the difference you service you make in the lives of our people. As you take your commissions today, remember the position in government are temporary. None of us will occupy these officers forever. What remain in the record of what you did, why you had a responsibility to serve. Sometimes you hear people complaining, you only change the rules when you are in the game. told you do what you do and you don't blame people for what you didn't do. Serve with humility, lead with integrity, treat people with respect and work hard. And wherever you are assigned, leave that institution, county, community or office better than you made it. Let me congratulate you once again and wish you success as you undertake these important responsibilities. May the God we serve give you wisdom and strength to serve our country faithfully. Liberia has come own way and with regard to elections, many issues of elections have been discussed. The electoral process in Liberia has come a long way from the days when ballot boxes were opaque and when 15,000 person registered to vote but more than 250,000 person voted. Today there are improvement in voter registration, representation of political contestants and independent observers at polling stations and the conduct of civ education. Elections have been conducted. Transitions have been peaceful since 2005 and democracy has endured. For this we must commend those who serve before us. We must also be honest with ourselves. Our progress though real is not yet substantial. We continue to face challenges such as funding uncertainties that undermine planning. Technological gaps that limit efficiency, logistical difficulties across our counties that limit efficiency, and a rapidly evolving social media landscape characterized by misinformation and digital manipulation. These are serious challenges, but we are glad that they are not insurmountable. With all sectors of the Liberian society and our international partners, we will deny these challenges the potential to er public trust in our democratic processes. Finally, we will inform the electoral laws of Liberia because the rule a democratic society together build an electoral system that will stand the test on behalf of my colleagues. We want to make this commitment. My colleagues who are honored today want to make this commitment that we will work to justify your confidence and win the admiration of the tell you thank you.
