Presidente Abinader felicita al COE y a todos los organismos de socorro, instituciones públicas y privadas por la coordinación del Simulacro Nacional
Santo Domingo.–President Luis Abinader congratulated the Emergency Operations Center (COE) and the relief agencies, as well as the public and private institutions and citizens who participated in the National Earthquake Evacuation Drill, carried out simultaneously at 10:00 in the morning throughout the national territory, highlighting the importance of maintaining permanent preparation to strengthen the response capacity and preserve lives.
When addressing the participants, on the front esplanade of the National Palace, the president, accompanied by the first lady Raquel Arbaje, highlighted that this type of exercises allows the population to acquire knowledge and have greater clarity about how to act in an emergency, with the purpose of protecting their own lives and helping to save those of other people.
The head of state explained that the country has carried out drills before, but that on this occasion the exercise was carried out in a more general and complete manner, which will allow it to continue strengthening response capabilities in the event of possible emergencies.
President Abinader pointed out that preparation must be maintained permanently, through the application of better techniques and procedures that allow acting correctly in the event of an eventual earthquake, a phenomenon that, although it is expected to never occur, demands constant preventive preparation.
In this sense, he highlighted that having the necessary conditions, preparation and knowledge is essential to respond in a timely manner and reduce the risks for the population.
The governor also valued the participation of people from all over the national territory and private companies that coordinated with the COE to join the preventive exercise.
Likewise, he congratulated the young people who are part of the COE and recognized the work done to make the national drill possible, urging them to continue strengthening the culture of prevention and preparedness in the Dominican Republic.
President Abinader thanked all the participants and the media for their collaboration, while asking God to always protect the Dominican population.
In conclusion, he reiterated his call to continue working together and with faith to strengthen the country's ability to face any eventuality and preserve lives.
Present were the ministers of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza; of Public Administration, Sigmund Freund; the general director of the Directorate of Government Strategy and Communication (Diecom) and spokesperson for the Presidency, Félix Reyna, and the legal consultant of the Executive Branch, Jorge Subero Isa, among other officials.

El presidente Abinader señaló que la preparación debe mantenersede manera permanente, mediante la aplicación demejores técnicas y procedimientosque permitan actuar correctamente ante un eventual terremoto, un fenómeno que, aunque se espera que nunca ocurra, demanda unapreparación preventiva constante. En ese sentido, destacó que contar con las condiciones, la preparación y los conocimientos necesarios es fundamental pararesponder oportunamentey reducir los riesgos para la población. El gobernante valoró, además, la participación de personas detodo el territorio nacionaly de lasempresas privadasque se coordinaron con el COE para integrarse al ejercicio preventivo. Asimismo, felicitó a losjóvenes que forman parte del COEy reconoció el trabajo realizado para hacer posible el simulacro nacional, exhortando a continuar fortaleciendo lacultura de prevención y preparaciónen la República Dominicana. El presidente Abinader agradeció a todos los participantes y a los medios de comunicación por su colaboración, al tiempo quepidió a Dios queproteja siempre a la población dominicana. Al concluir, reiteró su llamado a continuartrabajando unidos y con fepara fortalecer la capacidad del país de enfrentar cualquier eventualidad y preservar vidas.
