Given the opportunity to remember the figure of the statesman, the late Tun Abdul Razak Hussein, a great figure who has laid a solid foundation in nation building, thus being remembered as the Nation's National Development Architect. As the French thinker and philosopher Roger Garaudy said, remembering the figures of the past is not just nostalgic to reveal past experiences, but to rekindle the torch of their struggle, not to bury the ashes of the dead, but to rekindle its flame. I am one of the lucky young people because I had the opportunity to know the deceased up close. Despite his position as a great statesman, the deceased always cultivated the culture of discourse with young people, including listening to our concerns, idealism and views which at that time were sometimes harsh in demanding change. The deceased was a great Malay statesman, but his struggle never stopped at racial boundaries. His concern for the plight of the people is translated through various institutional reforms and the idea of a New Economic Policy whose main goal is to restructure society and eradicate poverty regardless of race. Among the messages of the deceased that I digested the most as a young person was his warning about the three major threats to the country, or 3C, namely Communism, Communalism and Corruption. Communism at that time was an armed threat, while narrow-minded racism tried to split a multi-racial nation. Further his view when as early as the 1970s, the deceased had reminded that the corruption that began to affect the powerful was a great threat to the country. The message continues to be relevant across the ages and the responsibility of today's generation is not just to remember the services and history of the late Tun Abdul Razak, but rather to appreciate his courage, integrity and great ambition to raise the dignity of the people, build a fair, united and dignified nation. #MalaysiaMADANI #YakinMADANI

Diberi kesempatan mengenang sosok negarawan, Almarhum Tun Abdul Razak Hussein, seorang tokoh besar yang telah meletakkan asas kukuh dalam pembinaan negara, sekali gus dikenang sebagai Arkitek Pembangunan Negara Bangsa. Seperti diungkapkan pemikir dan filsuf Perancis, Roger Garaudy, mengenang tokoh silam bukan sekadar nostalgia untuk menyingkap pengalaman lalu, tetapi untuk menyemarakkan kembali obor perjuangan mereka, not to bury the ashes of the dead, but to rekindle its flame. Saya antara anak muda yang beruntung kerana berkesempatan mengenali Almarhum dari dekat. Di sebalik kedudukannya sebagai negarawan besar, Almarhum sentiasa membugar budaya wacana bersama anak-anak muda, termasuk mendengar keresahan, idealisme dan pandangan kami yang ketika itu adakalanya keras dalam menuntut perubahan. Almarhum adalah negarawan Melayu yang besar, namun perjuangannya tidak pernah terhenti pada batas kaum. Keprihatinannya terhadap nasib rakyat diterjemahkan menerusi pelbagai pembaharuan institusi serta gagasan Dasar Ekonomi Baru yang antara matlamat utamanya adalah menstruktur semula masyarakat dan membasmi kemiskinan tanpa mengira kaum. Antara pesan Almarhum yang paling saya hadam sebagai anak muda ialah peringatannya mengenai tiga ancaman besar negara, atau 3C, yakni Communism, Communalism and Corruption. Komunisme ketika itu merupakan ancaman bersenjata, sementara faham perkauman sempit berupaya meretakkan sebuah negara berbilang kaum. Lebih jauh pandangannya apabila seawal dekad 1970-an, Almarhum telah mengingatkan bahawa rasuah yang mula menghinggapi golongan berkuasa merupakan ancaman besar kepada negara. Pesanan itu terus relevan merentas zaman dan tanggungjawab generasi hari ini bukan sekadar mengenang jasa serta sejarah Almarhum Tun Abdul Razak, sebaliknya menghayati keberanian, integriti serta cita-cita besarnya untuk mengangkat martabat rakyat, membina sebuah negara yang adil, bersatu dan bermaruah. #MalaysiaMADANI #YakinMADANI
