Johannesburg, Aug. 19 (SANA)Syrian powerlifting team memberMergan Hajiwon four medals at the2026 World Sub-Junior and Junior Powerlifting Championshipsin South Africa.

Competing in the junior women’s 57-kilogram category, Haji won gold in the squat and deadlift, silver in the bench press, and gold in the overall standings.

Syria is also represented byMohammad Saffoin the over-120-kilogram category.

The championships are being held in Sun City, South Africa, from Aug. 18 to Aug. 29, 2026.
