Arab League condemns Israeli strikes on Syria’s Abu al-Duhur airport
Cairo, Aug. 19 (SANA)Arab League Secretary-GeneralNabil FahmycondemnedIsraeli airstrikesonAbu al-Duhurmilitary airport in Syria’sIdlibgovernorate, calling for international action to end repeated Israeli attacks on Syrian territory.Fahmy said the strikes represented a “flagrant violation” of Syrian sovereignty and international law and were part of a series of Israeli attacks on Syria and other countries in the region.In a post on X on Wednesday, Fahmy described the strikes as provocative, unjustified and unacceptable, stressing that Israel is seeking to spread instability and widen conflicts in Syria and Lebanon for the domestic political interests of its prime minister.He called on influential international actors and theUNSecurity Council to fulfill their responsibilities and press Israel to halt the attacks, warning that continued escalation risked pushing the region toward further violence and instability.Syriastrongly condemned the strikes on Tuesday, describing them as an unjustified act of aggression, a blatant violation of its sovereignty and a dangerous escalation threatening regional security.The strikes have also drawn Arab and international condemnation, with calls for the international community and the UN Security Council to act to end repeated Israeli attacks on Syrian territory.
