The Interministerial Assessment Unit met again today. It analysed the latest available information regarding the fire in the Hautes Fagnes, in Belgium, and its potential impact on Luxembourg.

Given the changing weather conditions, the situation regarding the impact of smoke on Luxembourg is improving.

The latest forecasts confirm a positive trend for Luxembourg. The wind has shifted to a westerly to south-westerly direction, and the forecast indicates that this wind pattern will continue until Friday. This configuration should significantly limit the transport of smoke and fine particles into Luxembourg and thus reduce their impact on air quality in the Grand Duchy.

The figures currently being recorded in Luxembourg remain low, although they are still slightly higher than usual levels. Current forecasts suggest that this situation will continue over the next three days.

Although one monitoring station again recorded a daily concentration of PM10 exceeding 50 µg/m³ yesterday, this result is mainly due to a period of higher concentrations that occurred during the night. Since yesterday afternoon, the situation has improved significantly and the concentrations measured have remained at satisfactory levels.
