Sweida, Aug. 19 (SANA)Sweida GovernorMustafa al-Bakourwelcomed the approval of an exceptional examination session for students in the governorate, saying the measure would give them another opportunity to continue their education despite ongoing challenges.

“We congratulate our students and their families on the approval of an exceptional examination session to be held in theSweidacountryside,” al-Bakour said Wednesday.

He said the measure reflected a belief that education is a cornerstone of building the future and a commitment to students’ right to knowledge and academic achievement.

Al-Bakour called for coordinated efforts among all parties to ensure the examination session is held successfully and that students are able to sit for their exams without obstacles.

“The success of this examination session depends on the collective efforts of everyone,” he said, calling for students’ right to sit for the exams to be protected.

His remarks came after PresidentAhmad al-Sharaaissued Decree No. 163 of 2026, granting students from Sweida governorate anexceptional examinationsession for the Basic Education Certificate and all branches of the General Secondary Education Certificate.

The decree covers students who did not sit for the 2026 examination session as well as those who were unable to sit for all required examination subjects. The examinations will be conducted under the same rules and conditions governing the regular certificate examinations.

Under the decree, the Minister of Education will issue the executive instructions required for its implementation.
