Syria produces 14.8 million barrels of crude oil in first half of 2026
Damascus, Aug. 19 (SANA)Syria produced 14.8 million barrels of crude oil and 1.429 billion cubic meters of raw natural gas during the first half of 2026, according to recent data issued by the Ministry of Energy.
The ministry said on its Telegram channel Tuesday that the oil and gas sector continued to restore its role in supporting the national economy and strengthening energy security through increased production, infrastructure development, facility rehabilitation, and new avenues for investment and partnerships.
According to the ministry’s data, production during the period included 14.8 million barrels of crude oil, 3.5 million tons of petroleum products, 1.429 billion cubic meters of raw natural gas, 1.252 billion cubic meters of clean natural gas, and 35,500 tons of liquefied petroleum gas.
Primitive burners were removed in four governorates, while the Al-Thawra Petroleum Center and Al-Bashri Station were rehabilitated. A total of 152 wells were returned to operation, 10 new wells were brought into production, and the Dabousiya Gas Station was prepared for the transfer of gas to Lebanon.
7 memoranda of understanding and 3 contracts
The ministry said seven memoranda of understanding were signed with international companies, along with three contracts for the development of the petroleum sector.
Work also included rehabilitating five kilometers of the Conoco gas pipeline, restarting the main pumping station in Homs after 12 years of inactivity, returning the Amrit offshore drilling rig to service, and operating gas turbines at the Jbessa field.
In drilling and production, work reached 3,460 meters, while two drilling rigs were rehabilitated. The ministry also reported the return of 152 wells to operation, the addition of 10 wells to production and the repair of 21 wells.
110 tankers received at oil terminals
To strengthen supply security, maintain fuel availability and improve refining efficiency, oil terminals received 110 tankers during the same period.
Imports included 1.016 billion cubic meters of natural gas, 1.5 million tons of crude oil, 598,000 tons of mazut, 283,000 tons of gasoline, 196,000 tons of liquefied petroleum gas and 32,000 tons of fuel oil.
The ministry said electricity-generation plants were supplied with 2.059 billion cubic meters of gas and 859,251 tons of fuel oil, while 3.5 million tons of petroleum products were supplied to the domestic market.
The ministry also highlighted efforts made in 2025 to advance the oil sector, including increasing the volume of natural gas supplied to 9 million cubic meters per day, a 35 percent increase, and drilling the first exploratory gas well in Damascus Countryside.
During the same year, Syria received 96 million cubic meters of Qatari gas and 364 million cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas, while electricity-generation plants were supplied with 2.194 billion cubic meters of gas.
