UAE suspends trade and financial transactions with Iran
Abu Dhabi, Aug. 19 (SANA)The United Arab Emirates announced Tuesday the suspension of all activities, trade exchanges and financial transactions with Iran until further notice.According to a statement bythe UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairspublished on X, Afra al Hameli, director of the ministry’s Strategic Communications Department, said the decision came amid regional escalation that has undermined regional and international peace and security.Al Hameli stressed that the UAE remains committed to safeguarding the integrity of the international financial system in line with international law and the highest global standards.She added that the UAE reaffirms its commitment to dialogue, cooperation and regional integration as essential means of promoting peace, stability and prosperity in the region.The move comes amid continued Iranian attacks on the UAE. Earlier Tuesday,the UAE Ministry of Defensesaid it had detected two ballistic missiles launched from Iran targeting maritime traffic, noting that both fell into the sea.
