United Nations, Aug. 19 (SANA)UN Secretary-General spokespersonStéphane Dujarriccondemned Israeli airstrikes on Syria’sAbu al-Duhur Military AirbaseinIdlib provinceas a “very worrying violation” of Syria’s territorial integrity and airspace.

Responding to a question about the strikes, Dujarric said the United Nations had seen the attacks and called for them to stop.

“It’s yet another very worrying violation of the territorial integrity andairspace of Syria. These airstrikes should stop, and we stand against them,” Dujarric told reporters at a UN briefing.

Syria strongly condemned the attacks Tuesday as an unjustified act of aggression, a flagrant violation of its sovereignty and a dangerous escalation threatening regional security.

US Special Presidential Envoy for Syria and IraqTom Barrackdescribed the strikes as an unjustified escalation that does not contribute to regional stability.

Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Egypt and the Gulf Cooperation Councilalso condemned the strikes, urging the international community and the UN Security Council to take firm action against repeated Israeli attacks on Syrian territory.
