Approaching the VIP box, the Mariscal Francisco Solano López Military Academy, the first military institution of the Republic of Paraguay, boasts from its beginnings a fruitful existence that with the passage of time has been obtaining through the citizens who swell its ranks a glorious tradition. The former school and later military college was created by law number 139 dated 1915 with the name of Military School. Its operation began on February 8, 1900, with the decree of the power number 4036, which also appointed the first director commander of the military educational institution , the engineering colonel Don Manglius Chenoni Lugo. Since that time, the sublime call to the homeland for its defense has unleashed situations of selflessness and courage in its members who have won immortal laurels of greatness for the institution, thus writing with blood, sweat and tears brilliant pages of glory in the rich military history of Paraguay. Since March 1918, when the first class of officers graduated at 14 years old by decree 44492 of August 1, 1932, and after the invasion of Paraguayan territory, they immobilized and incorporated students of the military school, including permanent officers, non-commissioned officers , professors, workshops and cadets, and permanent officers. to occupy the Corrales, Toledo and Boquerón Forts, in order to defend the Paraguayan Chaco, forming that memorable infantry regiment number six, Boquerón. Thus, this noble unit became part of the army corps of the fierce Guarani troops on campaign under the command of Infantry Major Arturo Bray, the institution's commanding director at that time. On September 17, 1932, contact was made with the enemy, positioning itself in Fort Boquerón. Cadet Otaú was seriously wounded, becoming one of the first casualties of the unit, and along with other cadets such as Alvarenga, Romero, Pando, Cisa, Martínez, Molinas, among others, that memorable moment became the baptism of fire and blood of the historic Military School. In 1948, the nation's armed forces command changed its name from Mariscal Francisco Solano López Military College, in homage to the greatest hero of the national heritage and as an act that exemplifies the virtues of the Paraguayan soldier. It took more than half a century for 1971 to move from its historic seat on the shores of the bay of the capital city to the city of Capiatá, where it is currently located.
