Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi Meets a Delegation of Turkish Businesspeople Headed by Former Turkish Deputy Prime Minister ••••• Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi met today, Tuesday, with former Turkish Deputy Prime Minister and former Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mr. Lütfi Elvan, and his accompanying delegation, which included a number of Turkish officials and businesspeople. During the meeting, the two sides discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation between Iraq and Türkiye, particularly in the economic and investment fields, as well as ways to strengthen partnership in a manner that opens broader avenues for joint action and encourages Turkish companies to contribute to implementing strategic projects across various development sectors in Iraq. The Prime Minister affirmed that Iraq is witnessing a promising phase of development and invited Turkish companies to benefit from the available investment opportunities, particularly in airport construction and operation projects, railway projects within the Development Road Project, and the construction of a metro line connecting the governorates of Najaf and Karbala. He also highlighted investment opportunities in the electricity sector through the construction of thermal power plants and solar energy projects, as well as dam projects and the development of the agricultural sector. For his part, the former Turkish Deputy Prime Minister expressed the readiness of major Turkish companies to enter and invest in the Iraqi market, affirming growing confidence in Iraq’s investment environment in light of the support and facilitation provided by the government to strengthen development efforts and achieve economic growth. ••••• Media Office of the Prime Minister August 18, 2026
