Russian strike severely damages Ukrainian thermal power facility
Kyiv, Aug. 18 (SANA)A Russian attack severely damaged a thermal power plant operated by Ukraine’s largest private energy company, DTEK, forcing it to suspend electricity generation Tuesday, the company said.
DTEK described the attack as massive but did not disclose the plant’s location or provide further details about the extent of the damage.
The company said its thermal power stations have been attacked more than 230 times since Russia launched its full-scale military operation in Ukraine.
DTEK employee Oleksandr Kosolapov was killed in an attack on one of the company’s facilities on June 12.
Separately, DTEK said a Russian drone strike on one of its coal mines in the Dnipropetrovsk region killed 52-year-old miner Valentyn Kapitanov on Monday.
