The Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Washington, D.C. co-organized a jazz concert with the National Geographic Museum
The concert took place in the courtyard of the National Geographic Museum as part of its summerConcerts in the Courtyardprogram.
In his remarks, Ambassador Iztok Mirošič highlighted the importance of friendship and cultural ties between Slovenia and the United States. He also emphasized the importance of the partnership with National Geographic, noting that Slovenia is particularly proud to collaborate with the institution, whose spirit of exploration, discovery, and commitment to protecting the planet also reflects Slovenia’s identity as a green country, one of the most biodiverse countries in the world, and home to explorers and outstanding photographers.
On the occasion, he also highlighted the importance of jazz as an American art form that crossed the Atlantic to Europe and, through its universal language of music, has brought people and cultures together.
The Slavo Rican Assembly, bringing together musicians from Slovenia, the United States, and Central America, presented the audience with a diverse blend of Slovenian, American, and Latin jazz, using music to connect different cultural traditions.
