Numbers tell the story of the remarkable transformation we have undertaken in Kenya’s health sector over the past three years.

Today, 32.3 million Kenyans are registered under the Social Health Authority (SHA), up from 8 million beneficiaries under the defunct National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF).

Since October 2024, SHA has received more than KSh209 billion and paid over KSh178 billion to contracted facilities in all the 47 counties, and provided treatment to 8 million citizens in the process.

Through the Primary Health Care Fund, we have disbursed KSh23.3 billion to support more than 20 million outpatient visits, benefiting over 15 million Kenyans, while KSh17 billion has supported maternal healthcare, including deliveries.

Under SHA, we have facilitated more than 500,000 surgeries across the country and provided treatment to more than 50,000 cancer patients compared to just 7,000 under NHIF.
