Juan Manuel Méndez asume dirección del Intrant con firme convicción de hacer cumplir la ley
Santo Domingo.–Retired Major General Juan Manuel Méndez García assumed the executive direction of the National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (Intrant), with the commitment to work for the organization of traffic, continue the actions that have generated results and enforce Law 63-17.
Méndez, appointed by President Luis Abinader through Decree 551-26, assured that he comes to the institution with humility and respect for the work carried out, aware that solving traffic problems is not a task that can be achieved overnight and requires the participation of all sectors.
"We come with a mission and that mission must be fulfilled in accordance with what the law establishes. We will ensure that the law is fulfilled," said Méndez, during the inauguration ceremony.
The new executive director maintained that he will continue the initiatives that have worked and will make the necessary improvements, for which he called on Intrant collaborators and the different actors linked to transit and transportation to work together.
"Let's work together and look for the improvements we need. This is a responsibility of the entire country, not just Juan Manuel Méndez," he expressed.
Likewise, he pointed out that respect for the rules must become a citizen commitment. “If our citizens, when they go to other countries, respect the laws, it should be the same here,” he pointed out.
Méndez thanked President Luis Abinader for the trust placed in him to assume this new responsibility and confirmed that he will continue to lead the Directorate of Out-of-Hospital Emergency Care Services (DAEH).
The new head of Intrant has an extensive career in public service and for more than two decades was in charge of the Emergency Operations Center (COE), from where he headed the coordination of the national response to emergencies and disasters.
Méndez was sworn in by the Minister of Public Works and Communications, Eduardo Estrella, who highlighted his career of service, capacity and human sensitivity, and assured that he will have the support of President Abinader and the entire Government to take on the challenges of the institution.
"This institution is in good hands. It will have the support of the president and the entire Government," said Estrella, who urged Intrant employees to provide their full support to the new executive director.
For his part, the outgoing director, Milton Morrison, wished Méndez success and stated that Intrant “could not have been in better hands,” highlighting its service record, efficiency, transparency and human quality.
Morrison thanked the collaborators for the support received during his two years of management and highlighted the progress made in terms of institutionality, respect for procedures and internal transformations, as well as the ISO certifications for Quality, Anti-Bribery and Compliance.
“We delivered a better institution than we found it,” said Morrison, who also thanked President Luis Abinader for the trust and support provided during his administration.

Esta es una responsabilidad de todo el país, no solamente de Juan Manuel Méndez”,expresó. Asimismo, señaló que el respeto a las normas debe convertirse en uncompromiso ciudadano.“Si nuestros ciudadanos, cuando van a otros países, respetan las leyes, aquí debe ser lo mismo”,puntualizó. Méndezagradeció al presidente Luis Abinaderla confianza depositada en él para asumir esta nueva responsabilidad y confirmó que continuará al frente de laDirección de Servicios de Atención a Emergencias Extrahospitalarias(DAEH). El nuevo titular del Intrant cuenta con unaamplia trayectoriade servicio público y durante más de dos décadas estuvo al frente delCentro de Operaciones de Emergencias(COE), desde donde encabezó la coordinación de la respuesta nacional ante emergencias y desastres. Méndez fue juramentado por el ministro de Obras Públicas y Comunicaciones,Eduardo Estrella, quien destacó su trayectoria deservicio, capacidad y sensibilidad humana, y aseguró que contará con elrespaldodel presidente Abinader y de todo el Gobierno para asumir los desafíos de la institución. “Esta institución queda en buenas manos. Tendrá el apoyo del presidente y de todo el Gobierno”,afirmó Estrella, quien exhortó a los colaboradores del Intrant a brindar todo su respaldo al nuevo director ejecutivo. De su lado, el director saliente,Milton Morrison, deseó éxitos a Méndez y afirmó que el Intrant“no pudo quedar en mejores manos”,destacando su hoja deservicio, eficiencia, transparencia y calidad humana. Morrison agradeció a los colaboradores por el respaldo recibido durante sus dos años de gestión y resaltó los avances alcanzados en materia deinstitucionalidad, respeto a los procedimientos y transformaciones internas,así como las certificaciones ISO deCalidad, Antisoborno y Cumplimiento. “Entregamos una institución mejor que como la encontramos”,expresó Morrison, quien también agradeció al presidente Luis Abinader por laconfianza y el respaldobrindados durante su gestión.
