Saudi Arabia, Qatar condemn Iranian attacks on Iraqi Kurdistan
RiIyadh/Doha,Aug 18 (SANA)—Saudi Arabiaand Qatar on Tuesday strongly condemnedIranian attackstargetingIraq’s Kurdistan region, including the office of Kurdistan Regional Government Prime MinisterMasrour Barzaniand the residence of the head of the region’s security agency.
TheSaudi Foreign Ministrysaid in a statement posted on X that the kingdom rejects all hostile operations targeting political and official figures and any actions that threaten the security of Iraqi state institutions or undermine the country’s stability.
Saudi Arabia also reaffirmed its opposition to all forms of interference in the internal affairs of states and violations of their sovereignty, stressing the importance of good-neighborly relations and respect for international law.
Qatar likewise condemned the attacks, describing them as a flagrant violation of Iraq’s sovereignty and the sovereignty of the Kurdistan region, as well as a clear breach of international law.
TheQatari Foreign Ministrycalled for preventing further regional escalation and urged continued reliance on dialogue, diplomacy and de-escalation efforts to strengthen security and stability in the region and beyond.
Qatar also reaffirmed its full solidarity with Iraq and the Kurdistan region and its support for measures taken to safeguard their sovereignty and security.
