Jordan urges international action to halt Israeli attacks on Syria

Amman, Aug. 18 (SANA)Jordan condemned Israeli airstrikes onAbu al-Duhur Military Airbasein Idlib and urged the international community to compel Israel to halt its attacks onSyria.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson AmbassadorFouad al-Majalisaid Tuesday the attack was unjustified and violated Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, international law and theUN Charter.

Al-Majali called for an end to repeatedIsraeli attackstargeting Syria’s security and stability, warning they would fuel further regional conflict and tension.

He urged the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities, compel Israel to halt its attacks and end its occupation of part of Syrian territory, while respecting international law and state sovereignty.

Al-Majali reaffirmed Jordan’s support for Syria’s reconstruction efforts in a way that safeguards its unity, sovereignty, security and territorial integrity and preserves the rights of all Syrians.

Earlier Tuesday, Syria condemned the Israeli strikes as an unjustified act of aggression, a violation of its sovereignty and a dangerous regional escalation.kA/MF
