Jordan, Qatar stress dialogue, diplomacy to ease regional tensions
Amman, Aug. 17 (SANA)Jordan andQatarstressed the need for dialogue and diplomacy to ease regional tensions during talks between Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.
The two officials discussed efforts to de-escalate tensions and strengthenregional securityand stability during a phone call on Sunday, Jordan’s Petra news agency reported.
They called on all parties to adhere to dialogue and diplomacy and implement commitments under a memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, including ensuring freedom of navigation through theStrait of Hormuz.
Safadi and Sheikh Mohammed reaffirmedJordanand Qatar’s support for efforts to defuse tensions and reach a comprehensive agreement addressing the causes of the crisis and promoting sustainable security and stability in the region.
The two officials also discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The talks come amid continued regional efforts to reduce tensions, safeguard maritime navigation and maintain the stability of supply chains and energy markets.
