Syria, Lebanon discuss technical investment, AI cooperation
Damascus, Aug. 17 (SANA)Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdul Salam Haykal met on Monday with Lebanese Ambassador to Damascus Henry Kastoun to discuss investment opportunities in artificial intelligence centers, capacity building and ways to enhance technical andinvestment cooperationbetween the two countries.
The meeting addressed the historical and cultural ties between the two countries, as well as prospects for developing cooperation in technical fields, according to the ministry statement.
Haykal outlined the ministry’s projects aimed at rebuilding telecommunications infrastructure in line with the latest international standards to develop the sector and provide a supportive environment for technical investment.
Both sides stressed the importance of exchanging views and expertise and strengthening communication to open further opportunities for cooperation inAIand capacity building.
The talks are part of efforts to develop Syrian-Lebanese cooperation in the communications and information technology sector and benefit from available opportunities indigital transformationand AI to support digital infrastructure development and enhance joint technical investments.
The discussions build on the broader rapprochement between the two countries following the July signing of an agreement establishing the Syrian-Lebanese Higher Committee to strengthen institutional cooperation across various sectors.
