Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi Attends Meeting of the Presidencies ••••• Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi attended a meeting of the Presidencies this evening, Monday, alongside President of the Republic Nizar Amidi, Speaker of the Council of Representatives Haibet Al-Halbousi, and President of the Supreme Judicial Council Mr. Faiq Zidan. The meeting reviewed the overall situation in the country and discussed regional developments. The meeting affirmed support for the government’s efforts to implement its Government Program and priorities in a manner that contributes to meeting citizens’ needs and improving living conditions and public services, strengthening security and stability throughout the country, and enhancing the performance of state institutions. The meeting discussed ways to strengthen the country’s economic situation and address current challenges, particularly the decline in state revenues resulting from the repercussions of the war in the region and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. The participants stressed the need to diversify sources of national income, enhance non-oil revenues, and improve financial management in a manner that strengthens the Iraqi economy’s ability to withstand crises. The meeting also reaffirmed the commitment to ensuring that all arms remain under state authority as a fundamental pillar for consolidating state authority and the rule of law, particularly following the commencement of the withdrawal of Global Coalition forces from Iraq. The participants also stressed the importance of developing the capabilities of the Iraqi Armed Forces across all their formations and enabling them to carry out their duties in protecting the country and safeguarding the security of its citizens. The participants affirmed the need to continue combating administrative and financial corruption, strengthen measures to protect public funds, and pursue those involved in corruption cases through legal means and hold them accountable. The meeting discussed the government-proposed Funds Recovery Bill and the need to proceed with the necessary measures to recover public funds and strengthen the integrity and anti-corruption framework. The participants also stressed the importance of strengthening the legislative and oversight role of the Council of Representatives and expediting the passage of priority bills, particularly those directly related to citizens’ living conditions and service needs, in a manner that supports reform efforts and improves the performance of state institutions. The meeting of the Presidencies emphasized the importance of continued cooperation and coordination among the Presidencies and various state institutions to complete the formation of the Cabinet as soon as possible, strengthen the government’s work, and enable it to carry out its responsibilities comprehensively, implement its Government Program, and fulfill national priorities. Regarding regional developments, the participants stressed the need to work toward ending the crises in the region and reducing tensions, while supporting dialogue and diplomacy and resolving disputes through peaceful means. They reiterated Iraq’s position rejecting the use of its territory to launch attacks against any party or as a launching point for any hostile acts.
