Erbil, Aug. 17 (SANA)President of Iraq’s Kurdistan RegionNechirvan Barzanion Monday condemned attacks targeting government and security facilities, calling them “completely unacceptable and dangerous.”

In a statement posted on X, Barzani condemned attacks targeting the office ofKurdistan Regional GovernmentPrime Minister Masrour Barzani and the residence of the head of the region’s security agency.

He called on the Iraqi government to fulfill its constitutional responsibilities and uphold the country’s security and stability to prevent similar incidents.

“ProtectingIraq’s sovereignty, security and stability, including theKurdistan Region, is a shared responsibility,” Barzani said, urging all parties to ease tensions.

Kurdistan Region Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani also condemned the attacks, saying the region had maintained a clear and peaceful position since the outbreak of the war in the region.

Talabani said the attacks disregarded the region’s peaceful role and represented a serious violation of Iraqi sovereignty.

Earlier Monday, the Kurdistan Counter Terrorism Directorate said two drones targeted the regional government prime minister’s office and the security agency director’s headquarters. No casualties were reported.kA/MF
