Israeli attacks, raids and demolitions intensify across West Bank and Gaza
Occupied Jerusalem, Aug. 17 (SANA)A Palestinian died from wounds sustained in anIsraeli occupation strikeon the centralGaza Stripon Monday, while Israeli occupation forces carried out widespread raids, arrests and demolitions across the West Bank amid continued settler attacks.
Medical sources said a Palestinian died from injuries sustained in an Israeli strike on al-Baraka Street in Deir al-Balah, the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.
In theWest Bank, Israeli occupation forces detained at least 18 Palestinians in raids across several governorates, including five from al-Mughayyir, northeast of Ramallah, 11 from Beit Imrin and Kafr Qallil in Nablus governorate and two from Hebron governorate.
Two other Palestinians from the village of Faqqua, northeast of Jenin, were detained after armed settlers held them while they were picking prickly pears on village land near a newly established settlement outpost.
Israeli occupation forces also continued their incursion into Qabatiya, south of Jenin, raiding and searching homes and detaining a number of young men. A vehicle was struck at the entrance to the town, leaving the driver and several passengers with minor injuries.
In al-Ram, north of occupied Jerusalem, a Palestinian was wounded by Israeli occupation gunfire.
Israeli soldiers also raided al-Shawawra and Za’atara, east of Bethlehem, while military checkpoints were set up at the entrances to Aboud and Nabi Saleh, north of Ramallah, causing severe traffic congestion.
Israeli occupation forces demolished a two-story Palestinian home in Qalandia, northwest of occupied Jerusalem, and a 100-square-metre residential structure in the Nablus area, citing construction without permits.
In Qusra, south of Nablus, settlers continued for a ninth consecutive day to surround the homes of three Palestinian families in the Ras al-Ain area under the protection of Israeli occupation forces, preventing residents from reaching the properties. Occupation forces also blocked roads leading to the area with earth barriers.
The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission said Israeli occupation authorities carried out 80 demolition operations in July affecting 165 structures, including 80 inhabited homes, eight uninhabited houses and 63 agricultural structures. Another 34 Palestinian structures received demolition notices during the month.
The commission also recorded 2,256 attacks against Palestinians, their land and property in July, including 1,458 carried out by Israeli occupation forces and 798 by settlers.
More than 916 Israeli military checkpoints and gates are currently in place across the West Bank, including 243 installed since Oct. 7, 2023, according to the commission.
