Presidente Luis Abinader designa a Joel Santos como presidente del CUED y coordinador del Gabinete de Energía
SantoDomingo.–The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, appointed Joel Adrián Santos Echavarría as president of the Unified Council of Electricity Distribution Companies (CUED) and coordinator of the Energy Cabinet, through Decree No. 556-26, issued this August 16.
The provision was adopted in the exercise of the powers conferred on the Executive Branch by Article 128 of the Constitution of the Republic and the Organic Law of Public Administration, which empowers the President to appoint and remove the officials whose appointment corresponds to him.
With this decree, Joel Santo assumes the responsibility of directing the body in charge of coordinating electricity distribution companies and articulating the strategic policies of the energy sector from the Energy Cabinet, functions aimed at strengthening institutional coordination and the execution of Government initiatives in this area.
Likewise, Decree 556-26 repeals the designation relating to the Unified Council of Electricity Distribution Companies (CUED) contained in Decree No. 667-23, of December 29, 2023, as well as article 2 of Decree No. 444-24, of August 15, 2024. The provision orders the new decree to be sent to the corresponding institutions for their knowledge and execution.
